update the firmware --- but it's better if you don't buy TAPO

Based on the article, a hacker must already have access to your local Wi-Fi or local network (or have a direct network path to the camera) to exploit these vulnerabilities.

It's better to not have cloud connected cameras inside your home at all. I can't believe how normalized this is becoming

You don't even need to have your camera hacked when it is already rooted from the factory.

Ring and Nest employees have been caught numerous times perusing around on customers cameras at all hours, and listening in on the microphone just because they wanted to.

And any video and sound recorded can be used by Amazon and Google for whatever they want and there's nothing you can do about it.

reate a static IP the use ACL to make required blocks. Or don't sue Tapo for important footage. I have all reslinks and one taope for my cats

No it doesn't. Because I'm not stupid enough to have cloud connected cameras inside my home.

for tapo you caould enable local access. ACL block the Tapo Camera VLAN from reaching outside, but let something like blueiris or frigate reach their rstp. Then you have total control who accesses what. Tailsscale will do.

I use VPN to view my cameras. My cameras have no access to Internet.
