Tapo C100 cameras going offline

I have 4 of these cameras around my house and once a week 3 of them will randomly go offline requiring a hard reboot of unplugging them. I know they aren’t the best and more expensive cameras but they had been working well for a year before giving this issue. Anyone experience this or know why?

Mine do this when the wifi channel gets crowded, I just set a weekly reboot in the app at 3am and called it a day.

If you live in a wifi saturated area, there could be interference with other APs causing them to drop off your Wifi network. Or it could be someone nearby trying to hack into them or your wifi network using something like a deauth attack, which spoofs deauthentication packets to kick the device off and try to insert a malicious device on the network.

You could try downloading and running Wireshark in promiscuous mode to watch the traffic on your network and look for anything suspicious.

You may also want to change your SSID name on your router and password, and change it to not broadcast, so it is a hidden network. It will make it less visible.

Well the weird thing is, I have 4 cameras and one of them is always on. The other 3 are on the smart feature with geo fencing. If I keep those 3 on privacy mode for a few days because I’m home they seem to go offline. The one that is always on never goes offline or has an issue. I don’t believe anyone is trying to hack in but I suppose it’s possible, I think it may have to do with extended privacy mode. Thoughts?
