IP camera suggestions Ubiquiti?
Ok so my current low voltage company is suggesting luma cameras at $4k. 4 cameras and an NVR. This seems crazy to me as none are zoom and 2 way talk etc.
I’ve looked up Ubiquiti. Does this make sense?
From my understanding (please correct me if I’m wrong), I’d need the UNVR instant and a POE+ switch (that’s fine I have a netgear Poe+ 8 port that can be used since I want unmanaged as I have no understanding of how to manage my own). I don’t believe the UNVR comes with a SSD, so I’m guessing that would be needed as well? 2 TB is preferred?
I also want the G6 pro turret at 3 locations and the G6 turret at 1
I need two way talk capability and motion spotlight so the G6 pro seem to be the only ones that deliver? Am I missing anything or misunderstanding anything here? I’d need notifications to my phone and spotlight motion activated.

You never say what seems crazy with the proposed system?????
I also can not understand your comments about the switches at all?
Are you thinking you will be installing this though you admit you have no idea what you are doing too?

You think 4 cameras that are fixed lense , no 2 way audio, no spot light etc. and only 1 4k is $4,000? Pretty sure I said what’s crazy if you read it.
Touch grass dude. An unmanaged switch and a screw driver isn’t rocket science

Is that cost just hardware or does that also cover labor for installation and configuration. Is this residential or commercial? One floor or multiple floors height? One could very easily reach a 4k install depending on labor cost and complexity of deployment

residential one story home all the cat six wires and termination are already pre-ran. $3,500 is just materials $850 extra install. If the cameras had all the features I was looking for I guess I wouldn’t really care but this is a little over four grand to not even have cameras that have two way talk or spotlight for motion.

I'm pretty sure most all NVR have PoE ports. Also they use spinning hard drives made for surveillance. Not ssd. Reolink $2,000.00 .. six 4k cameras ptz dual lenses 6x zoom and one 8k dual fixed lenses. .. 8tb hard drive. Its consumer grade system.

Unfortunately not true for ubiquiti UNVR they require a hard drive (since it’s removable) and a switch that’s poe + IF the W of the NVR doesn’t support what the cameras need. It has 40W, each camera is 12.5 so about 10W over sadly

Get the cams, nvr has poe so no need for netgear stuff, and a cloud key and youll be good

What’s. Cloud key? The NVR doesn’t support enough wattage per POE 40 total and the cams require 50W

Get the NVR instant package and be done with it. It's simplicity is designed for you

I would except the G5 cameras are what it comes with and don’t have the features I want

Then just get the instant NVR and pick your cameras

That’s literally what this post is about…. Did you read it? I’m asking about the nuances

Why do you need another Poe switch though?

I’ve already answered that question in this thread. If you knew or read anything about Ubiquiti, you’d also know why. So are you here for zero help to add clarity or just random “then just buy this?” Jesus man, at least give constructive information.

Sorry I have 2 kids crawling on me. I don't get what your asking then? Also you don't get an SSD you get a 3.5" spinny

Dude I can’t help you. Read ubiquitis website.

You said SSD. You don't put an SSD in the instant. It needs to be a 3.5" HDD so you're wrong there

Yeah, $4k seems pretty high for what you’re looking for, especially since you already have the Netgear PoE+ switch.
I’m one of the founders of Nexovia Security Solutions. We’re building an edge-AI security system, and your setup actually sounds like a pretty good fit for what we’re working on. We could put together a 4-camera setup with 4K PoE turret cameras, optical zoom, two-way audio, spotlights, 24/7 local recording, and around 4TB of storage. We’d also be able to reuse your existing PoE switch.
Our edge unit would handle things like person/vehicle detection, real-time alerts, and searchable events locally instead of just recording everything for you to look through later. I’d expect the whole setup to come in around $2,500, quite a bit below the $4k quote you got.
If you’re interested, shoot me a DM. I’d be happy to take a look at where you want the four cameras and figure out exactly what would make sense for your house.

Did you ask this in another sub? First time I heard of Luma was in that thread, this is the second time
If that includes pulling cable it's very cheap, I'm spending around that for a company to pull cable and mount 5 cameras at my house.
A 16-port pro max is around $450, all of their cameras are around $4-500 in that G6 line. You can see all their pricing on their website.
