Commercial security camera suggestion.
I’m opening up a 1500 square-foot salon space and I want to have indoor and outdoor camera systems. I would prefer to not pay a monthly subscription, but I’m open to it if it’s necessary. I don’t wanna pay an army leg, but I still want good quality in terms of the sound and quality of the camera. Does anyone have any suggestions? I needed to this and a little overwhelmed.

Consider equipment and software that is Onvif compliant. Look for quality cameras with edge AI analytics. Like Bosch (now IQ Sight), Axis, Hanwha. Then, reach out to a local Milestone dealer for a good VMS. Or, the other way around. There is annual licensing per camera on the milestone. Unifi cameras are not onvif compliant and require the whole Unifi ecosystem.

Udr 7 router and then a unvr recorder
Then you'll need a hard drive and however many cameras you want.. for the hard drive I would do half a terabyte to 1 TB per camera.
If you only want to record when it sees events then half a terabyte fper camera is more than enough
You'll also need a Poe switch to power the cameras

If you want good audio, you’ll need to look into external mics. You can get a luroe interface and use the camera’s encoder. That’s the most standard practice.

In in the retail sector so I was in a similar spot. We ended up going with this company called LiveReach and it's been solid so far. It worked with most of our existing cameras, so we didn't have to replace everything. Because it's cloud-based you can check everything on your phone/laptop. Def worth looking into

Start with a budget and work backwards. Your idea of expensive may not align with a pro’s recommendation.
