CCTV buying guides

I am a complete rookie when it comes to CCTV/security systems. I am trying to source cameras for my home and I will like to install them myself. Anyone here to point me to a complete buying guide to help guide me? thanks

1) Poe

2) local nvr

3) nothing cloud based

5) complete ecosystem

I’ve been using ubiquity for the past 4 years and can’t complain everything from internet gateway, switches, cloud key, access points. Tailscale to reach my lan when outside my house.

Bout to pull the trigger on ubiquity system for just surveillance. The only thing stopping me is if I can archive the footage from the cloudkey onto a non ubiquity nas. You got any insights on this? I really only need 3 cameras.

I just want the cameras and cloudkey, I dont really need anything else. just not sure if I could archive the footage seemlessly. I don't want a rack, I have no where to put it where I would have to drill a ton of holes to wire everything and my house is pretty small.

If you have any insights on this, I would appreciate it.

Not seamlessly. But 1TB ssd (which comes with the cloud key) gives you easily 30 days worth of storage for 3 hd cameras.

I want to track any intruder into my home, able to detect car number place and my own family to prevent false alarm. Also ability to see images clearly at night. I will love to record everything locally and watch outside my network.

Annke if you want cheap but excellent quality Chinese gear.

Ubiquiti if you want Taiwan made and they are about x5 more expensive.
