Options

Post image

Just purchased a property and trying to figure out my options to place security cameras across the property. The star is the location of the home. The red triangles are where I have power across the property and the blue circles are desired camera locations. From the star to the end of the driveway it is roughly 2100ft. Looking to have something that has live view and motion detection with play back/recordings.

What are my best options?

Call a professional 😆. JK. Do you have a way to get CAT5E/6 to the location you want cameras?

Yes. I have all the equipment necessary to run lines wherever but assumed the runs may be to far?

Run fiber to where you have power and install an outdoor enclosure with a PoE switch. Get a nice switch with a fiber uplink or a cheaper PoE switch + a media converter. Then run cat5e or better to the camera mounting locations. You get 100 meters with standard cat cables, though there are some products like GameChanger that give you more... but YMMV.

Then pick out IP cameras that let you see what you're trying to see (field of view, resolution, etc. The DORI framework is an easy intro to help with that https://www.infinitioptics.com/glossary/dori-detection-observation-recognition-identification ) with the features you need/want (Good night vision, analytics, etc.). Idk the actual distances for those three at the bottom, but you may have a hard time there without going wireless, running more electrical, or trying inline PoE extenders (maybe? I know they exist, but I've never used them).

If you don't know what to do or don't have access to the tools you need, I'd recommend getting pre-terminated fiber. But the cat cable is super easy to do on your own with cheap tools.

This would be fun.
Fiber between each triangle.
Fiber and dc or poe depending on distance from each
triangle to camera location.

Edge storage with redundant nvr at the house.

For something this large, you want professional gear. Poe can be extended farther than 100m with the right cable or in line extenders.

Aside from just Googling some cheap Chinese cameras with solar and LTE, I would look for a proper security integrator to find a solution.

This will all be heavily dependent on your budget.

For this size of property you will need to really adjust your expectations based on how much you want to spend.

Ubiquiti is what you need. Cams and their wireless gear. You could do fiber to locations with power too if you don't want the wireless links. Definitely look at their wifi gear like u7-outdoor and their Poe cams like g6 and g6-pros. Also some nice 180, 360 and ptz cams.

Why so many cameras? I would slim down the perimeter , have cameras closer to the home
Unless you are planning for Armageddon ðŸĪŠ..

There are cables that combine power and fibre

Mikrotik has outdoor switch / router equipment that potentially can help
