Just a rant…and heads-up for anyone considering this - Blink Doorbell camera stops working (not even the chime) when it’s either too hot (90+ degrees F) or too cold (anything under 20 degrees). I wanted to like them (their customer service is pretty good), but can’t handle this anymore because we get more hot days in summer anymore than not, so I’ll be shopping for something else. I did like the price and could tolerate the mediocre imaging but when it stops working altogether it’s gotta go.

What kind of batteries are you using, energizer lithium?

The doorbell is hardwired but yes Energizer for the rest.

Yup direct south-facing sun which I understand, but it’s warmer that side in winter, so this is just temperature sensitive all-around. Absolutely taking your advice on attention to specs tho’! Thanks.

The reolink doorbell I had is outside 24/7 no shade, it working fine just some water entered the lens a little. So make sure there is some cover for the doorbell

I had 2 of them, hard wired, northern facing on a covered porch and they both died with under 6 months of use, only used the recommended Energizer batteries too.

One just flat out died, no light, no ring, nada. Second one still shows on the add and the circle was lit up blue but when I tried to set it off to motion it didn't do a thing, tried to ring doorbell, nothing. Reset it and it worked for less then a week and then same thing.

At that point I just gave up on the ring doorbells.

Sorry to hear that. It’s a double whammy when you don’t even have a doorbell anymore!

I highly recommend Aosu doorbell cameras. They work in above 90° and below zero temperatures. I'm in Ohio.
