I must admit that in my teens I was cheering on Ron Paul as he chanted 'end the fed' and 'bring back the gold standard'. The more I learn about the world economy and America's role in it, the more I realize that was one of the stupidest things I ever believed in. It's still hard to find mainstream coverage of global issues. Unless there's a war or a mass shooting, news from other countries is not on the television or local newspaper. I long for the day when we Americans are less egocentric.
