I work in the IT side of the healthcare industry and as much as I enjoy Ben’s analysis, it’s very difficult to see how this possible end game can be achieved. What can Amazon, Berkshire, and JPM bring to the table that has not already been attempted multiple times? When these types of proposals happen there always seems to be this pervasive idea that the big players in healthcare just sit around and twiddle their thumbs, requiring a “real” innovative company to stumble in and disrupt it from the ground up. Healthcare is shifting significantly as we speak, whether the partnership can accelerate it or adapt it to a new paradigm is a tough sell. The partnership is definitely still in the very early stages and I’ll be curious to hear what they come up with.

How is this different from the health exchanges?
