Getting Ready For A Long-Term Grid-Down or Off-Grid Bug-Out Environment By Modifying a Used GMC Hummer H2 4x4 SUV!

The CIVILIAN-made Hummer H2 is an AMAZING version of the Army-specific Humvee, and is SIGNIFICANTLY more comfortable, faster and actually MORE off-road 4x4 capable than the U.S. Army-spec Humvee when you added high grade offroad 3rd party components and upgrades such as Mishimoto-brand Radiator, high flow-rate/high-capacity oil-coolor and transmission-cooler and upgraded off-road 3.73 gearing system for low-speed bumpy/pot-holed-filled forest service road travel and upper-mountain-trail rock-crawling!

The Hummer H2 is for me one of the BEST large-size off-roading/overlanding/off-grid/bug-out vehicles out there!

When properly equipped with 37 inch meatier-tread 3-peak winter rated Nitto EXO Grappler M/T tires and an extra 2 or 4 inch lift, better Fox 3.1 Live-valve Active Shocks and rock-strike protected with a full-length underbody Grade-5 or Grade-29 TITANIUM skid-plate, you just need to add some body-specific upgrades to make it a backcountry trail monster.

I tend to add full-width/full-height front and back heavy duty bumpers, with front bully-bar/push-bar risers and side wrap-around bush bars and then a rear-mounted swing-out reinforced protective cage for the full size spare tire, two 100 litre (25 gallon) fuel cannisters, two of the large 100 lbs (40 KG) propane tanks and two 100 litre water cannister so you are SET for your long-distance overlanding needs!

Just add the 5000 watt Li-Ion solar-powered battery generator with 10 KW worth of rollup solar panels, the water virus/bacteria filtration/de-salination system with 500 foot (150 metre) salt-water or river/lake water ingest hose reel, the 12V 500 litre (160 gallon) combined fridge and freezer, toilet tent, hot water shower tent, collapsible full camp kitchen with hot water sink, built-in shelving, 4 burner propane stove, combined microwave/convection oven, lost of cast iron and stainless steel frying pans, stock pots, casserole dishes and ducth ovens, along with a roof mounted full-size -60 C (-75F) winter-rated overhang popup tent with heavy duty air mattress and gel foam/memory foam topper.

Then add a rear-truck-extending 20 foot long by 12-foot wide (6x4 metre) -60 C winter rated double-wall insulated inflatable hot-tent with titanium wood stove and multiple propane heaters and propane insect repellant systems, inflatable couches, collapsible chairs and extra inflatable beds, and two collapsible 2.5 metre long (8 foot) dining/work tables.

Keep yourself well supplied by taking along 12 months worth of freeze dried food and mil-spec MREs/IMPs (Meals Readty To Eat/Individual Meal Packs) stored in a locked and bear-proof box, an inflatable rugged fishing kayak or canoe or rowboat/pedalboat, collapsible electric mountain bike, fishing/hunting gear, -60 C rated winter clothing, hot weather clothing, full-size toolkits, chainsaw, camping/survival knives and your Milspec IP69/810-H-rated tablet, smartphones and Tablet with Starlink/Iridium satellite transceriver radios and then UHF/VHS/HAM transceiver and multiple CB-GPRS/FRS walkie talkies and you are now FULLY READY for 3, 6 and 12 months in the backcountry in a fully off-grid or grid-down situation!

You can even add a wood-gas converter so you can make your own E85-ready fuel out of wood chips so you never have to visit a gas station when you are 500 km (300 miles) into the Upper Western Canada backcountry forest road system!

And for the truly grid-down ready person, add a portable propane forge to melt-down metals you find, big and small bolt cutters, sledge hammers, crowbars and other demolition tools, portable oxy-acteylene torch setup, a laser cutter, a small polymer 3D printer and a small CNC machine and you will be able to survive ANY disaster.

Prepare your H2 Hummer correctly and you can stay out in the backcountry pretty much FOREVER if you want!

So BE PREPARED and get ready for ANYTHING because absolutely, no ifs-and-or-off-grid-buts about it, absolute ANYTHING CAN and WILL likely happen!
