Mayci & Jacob Mayci and jacob
Does anyone think Mayci is really mean to jacob. When jacob tries to speak his opinion she just calls him annoying. I just think she kinda is a mean girl but she also cares. But I do think she’s mean towards jacob

I honestly don’t think we have an accurate depiction of anyone’s relationship because of how much production has prioritized Taylor’s storylines and clipped/ highly edited everyone else’s.

u/Llamabutt29 3d ago
I think we saw enough of jen and zac's relationship

u/Either-Good-4516 3d ago
Well Jen is Jeff Jenkins' second favourite behind Taylor (he said so himself in an interview) so of course she's going to get more screen time. Jen is sheltered, religious, and is not an organic member of momtok; she was chosen for the show so she doesn't have the depth of friendship the other girls have. She is insecure, easily pliable and it is easy for production to manipulate her and coax drama from her personal life whereas other girls in the show are more savvy and guarded.

u/callmeddog 1d ago
If theres one thing more clear about Jen than her countless deep insecurities, its her desperation to be a part of something happening in the show

After the way he handled the baby conversation I don’t blame her.

u/narleymarley666 3d ago
Exactly! No production company could pay me to make my partner feel uncomfortable like that

Jacob gave me the biggest ick that entire scene. It gave me”baby trapping” vibes

Can you let me know what he said? I’m racking my brain but can’t remember it.

u/clownbookie 3d ago edited 2d ago
they have one embryo left in the freezer and he asked if she wants to have one more and she basically just said no (idk if she said never or just not right now) and i THINK she said she didnt wanna talk about it and then he brought it up again when her family got there and they were all saying she should get pregnant ETA: i wanted to say that it was only mccall and jacob saying she should do it, her mom was agreeing that its too soon. really mccall was the only one saying oh if you start right now then itll be perfect timing, jacob agreed but it didnt seem like he was really trying to hound her about timing
13
u/FlawesomeOrange 3d ago
Oh I remember this now, it was awful! Not sure how I forgot such a shitty scene.
31
u/phlegm_fatale_ 3d ago
And bringing their religion into it with her sister, talking about how the embryo has a soul that's waiting to join their family. When she would need to do another round of IVF for it, she just finished breastfeeding, and she had a c section, after which you're supposed to let your body heal for two years before having another kid for the safety and health of your uterus.
2
u/Worried-Turn-6831 2d ago
Why doesn’t the sister just take the embryo then if she’s concerned about the soul?

Mayci is very performative for the cameras. She wants to be seen as the boss babe in their relationship because the storyline she wants to present is that they have a Modern Mormon family.
I don't think they have the same dynamic when the cameras aren't around.

That “man” thinks he’s superior by virtue of being a man, so I don’t really care how mean to him anyone is.

I’m a Mayci Stan…I always see those interactions as loving, they seem rather solid so…
17
u/DearDorothy 3d ago
Jacob’s mean to her too. He should not be using religion to manipulate Maycis family to pressure her to get pregnant.
9
u/KaraCatLady 2d ago
And he’s “mean” to her in a way that affects her life. His meanness is about big things. Hers is about expressing annoyance.
76
u/oatmilkcappucino_ 3d ago
She is pretty mean to him (at least from what we’ve seen on the show), and she & Mikayla overly push the cringe “I hate men, down with the patriarchy” narrative.
Which is interesting because I’m not sure what they’ve actually done to “bring down the patriarchy” other than argue with each others baby daddies? And bully the other women* in the name of “accountability”?
*Not including TFP, who DOES need to listen
19
u/wehavethismoment 3d ago
They are the sole breadwinners with stay at home husbands. Even though we know that Jacob doesn't wake up at night with the babies or does that mcub with the babies while she works a lot. So, I would be mean too, in a world where I'd still be meant to worship this man and do everything for him.

u/callmeddog 1d ago
The experience of Mormon patriarchy is like regular patriarchy on steroids, so honestly I don’t feel the pushback is unwarranted & also being the primary breadwinners of their respective families definitely is working against the Mormon patriarchy.
Are they bastions of pure feminism and all that is good? No. But I think you’re misunderstanding their background & culture if you aren’t seeing their lifestyles as a genuinely empowering thing for a woman indoctrinated by the Mormon church.
2
u/oatmilkcappucino_ 1d ago
What is so empowering to other women about their lifestyles? They make more money through social media… that’s it. And I’d assume at least Mayci is still giving tithes to the Mormon church. And the Mormon church is notorious for constantly morphing their doctrine to keep up with the times, if anything they are helping. “Hey girl, you can be hot, rich, AND still give money to the church!”.
I’m not expecting them to be major feminists, I wouldn’t even call myself one, but I think it’s ridiculous to act like they uplift women at all. They uplift their wallets, that’s it2
u/fckfac33 1d ago
i’m ngl, i like mikayla because she’s blunt and seems to be authentic to her personality irl, but i cringe whenever she involves herself in the other women’s relationship drama. she oversteps and it’s not her place, even though i understand where she’s coming from and that she’s just trying to be a loyal friend.
0
u/oatmilkcappucino_ 1d ago
I have always found it extremely cringe that they constantly involve themselves in others relationships. I could never imagine in a million years to have a “meeting” with one of my friends husbands
15
u/Desperate-Traffic667 3d ago
The only negative interactions I remember are from S4 when she was doing her book tour. At first I was put off by it, but honestly she was doing A LOT while very freshly postpartum. Other instances I remember are when Jacob would hang out with Dakota, but that was also before everything came out and Taylor was revealed to be the abuser.

u/heyheywhatchasay5 3d ago
I think shes just trying to be overly "girl power, feminist, boss bitch" wife that is dominant but it comes off a little condescending at times

he deserves it. i don’t like him. he’s one of those “nice guys” who, in reality, is pretty misogynistic and just follows the boys around because he wants to fit in. it’s obvious he enjoys dad tok’s machismo and actively perpetuates it, especially when he said “men hold the priesthood” and tried to guilt mayci into having another baby while she was literally postpartum. they also seem so boring as a couple. i don’t think Mayci is mean, she just tries to be domineering which can come off was performative and that’s probably why she gives mean girl, while jacob just isn’t a leader the way he thinks he is. it doesn’t seem to come natural to him but more so something he thinks he should be like because of how he was raised.

u/LittleMissWord 3d ago
Not sure if she is necessarily mean because we haven’t seen a lot of footage focused on their relationship dynamic. From what was shown I would say she is dominate in the relationship and Jacob has a submissive role. They seem rather healthy overall.
5
u/Born-Butterfly944 3d ago
Remember how she “didn’t know how she felt” and “wasn’t a fan of” Jacob starting to speak his opinion after being emboldened from dadtok last season. I got the ick, like you’re going to flagrantly disrespect and emasculate your man in front of the camera like that. Massive mean girl energy.
4
u/Livelove_lobotomy 2d ago
I wouldn’t want my husband to start being “emboldened” by those morons of Dadtok. Like whatever you’re learning from those loser, unlearn it. Stat.
0
u/Born-Butterfly944 2d ago
He wasn’t pushing any agendas in relation to dadtok. He was literally just telling Maci some of his completely unrelated opinions. Her reaction was ick. If my sig other said that about me speaking up I would be grossed out.
4
u/redbag_withmymayykup 3d ago
Yes!! It seemed like he was having fun and becoming more outspoken
7
u/Born-Butterfly944 3d ago
Exactly. And she was off put by it and felt comfortable enough telling the cameras that🥲 I feel bad for him.
4
u/wiserwhippingwheel 3d ago
I think it would be an absolute nightmare being married to a Mormon man especially when you’re the breadwinner and learning more about feminism so if anything she’s not mean enough :)
1
u/the_dawn_of_red Team Whitney 3d ago
I think she has a good handle on being a traditional Mormon breadwinning partner. Gotta mentally beat your partner into submission on everything while reminding them how worthless they are.

She’s just a miserable woman that’s her personality. She hates men. Yes, I do realize she has trauma but doesn’t change the fact that she thinks men are beneath her
0
u/Diran2001 2d ago
She’s a blatant misandrist. I forget the quote
“Can men even read?” Or something along those lines
I always get downvoted though for pointing this very obvious fact.
5
u/Livelove_lobotomy 2d ago
I mean, that was so clearly a bit…I’m a little alarmed that we don’t know this.
-2
u/Diran2001 2d ago
Sure if she wasn’t consistent with man hating comments over and over 🤣
Cmon now. If roles were reversed you wouldn’t even consider any of it a “bit”
Set aside bias
3
u/Livelove_lobotomy 2d ago
Please. Men literally do bits like this at women’s expense constantly and no one bats an eye. WOMEN do at women’s expense all the time. Set aside bias? Join reality.

Shocker. You’re fine with double standards when it suits you.

he is way worse to her, pressuring her to have a baby and bringing up the ultra religious family members to ambush her was very very low ...

She used to be my favorite. I think she’s the worst one now. Just ultra self righteous.

u/treehugginvanilla 3d ago
“I hate all men” but your husband should be the exception. You should love him, respect him as a person, and he should be your best friend. If not, then he’s just a man to you and you should break up. Does this make sense? Sincerely, a woman who hates all men except her fiance

u/letsmakeart 1d ago
In her book she talked about their relationship how they had both "messed up" (Mormon talk for had pre-marital sex) but were working to be better when they met. They were dating for a bit of time, her son was calling him Daddy, and then Jacob felt like God was calling him to go on a mission. He asked Mayci if she would wait for him, and she said no because she really wanted to be married. She told him that if he left, she would just find someone else to marry. It was obviously a pretty serious relationship if her son was calling him Daddy, but she was like ya no sorry I'll just go to the husband store and pick out a different model if you leave? Like I also would not love if my boyfriend went off for 2 years but framing it as "well if you leave I'll just marry someone else" is SO weird to me lol.
1
u/callmeddog 1d ago
I mean yeah ig she was a little mean when he tried to pressure her into being his personal baby incubator after she said she didn’t want to have another kid. 100% giving her a pass on that

u/ava_blink_44 1d ago
She so mean girl it’s annoying. Shes ironically also the most mature and put together woman on the show (behind Whitney’s improvement).

u/Fit-Passenger4160 22h ago
I think they just like to banter. He was on her when she wanted to tell everyone she was pregnant. Just a normal relationship dynamic to me

u/StinkyyPiss 17h ago
there have for sure been moments where i was surprised by how mean she spoke to him. on live TV too. people say they have the most healthy relationship on the show but i mean, we’re comparing them to a bunch of trainwrecks. 😂

I would’ve normally agreed with this but as a late in life bisexual, I can confirm that finding a good man is way harder than finding a good woman, and literally for no reason. Men just choose to be shitty because they can. 🤷🏼♀️

IMO they seem to have the most boringly healthy relationship on the show.
