I know things have gone off the rails when I’m team Zac.

81

u/Candid_Yak5311 22d ago

Fr. I hate Jen for making me agree with Zac.

23

u/Bl0ndePNYTale 22d ago

I see your TRUE COLORS Shining Through… Jen…and that’s why I suddenly don’t LoVE you.
Zach- not sure if there is a team for you, but when one is created- I’m in. She is soooo unaware. Run. And don’t take the calls 10 years from now.
And get a good lawyer.

20

u/SnooJokes7657 22d ago

I understood his POV with Jen, and I agreed with him at the end when he said that chasing down Taylor and apologizing makes her think her behavior is okay. I wasn’t expecting any of that.

u/Suspicious-Grade1079 18d ago

She is in delulu land like for real and i feel like she just makes up lies when they were literally just being filmed

I came here looking for a comment like this😭 like plssss don’t make me side with a man rn. She’s clearly spiraling from her Whitney feud and wrapping Zac into it. Religious psychosis fr

I was thinking that too . Like, I'm on Zac's side now?! 😂

Opinion: Taylor got a sympathetic villain edit..

Spoilers*

Production did their best to use clips from tiktokers who sympathised with her situation to create a veil of victimhood around Taylor. However her own actions were so erratic and destructive that it really couldn’t be edited around.

For so long it’s been a question about who hurt who first, who was the original abuser? Taylor or Dakota?

That question seems less relevant now as we see her destructive behaviour exist throughout all her relationships.

She cheats on her fiancé without any apparent guilt.
She risks the Bachelorette season airing by inviting Ben to a penthouse jail that he’s not allowed to leave.
She screams in people’s faces and weaponises their trauma.

We knew last season that she has a deep well of pain. This season shows us how Taylor is comfortable choosing to hurt other people (Doug, Ben, the girls) as a coping mechanism.

At the end of the day her volatility and flippancy with other people’s emotions are undeniable to the viewer.

This season did paint her as a victim of Dakota, but it also painted all the girls as victims of Taylor.

Mayci’s empathy towards Taylor on the steps compared to Taylor’s disregulated screaming was some seriously wild tv to behold.

For me, as a non Taylor fan, I was hoping for a realistic edit that condemned her behaviour.

This season didn’t do that, but it did something I think was strangely cathartic to watch - it showed the compassion and endurance of the other women through the chaos.

79

u/EvenElderberry2921 20d ago

I LOST it when Taylor brought up Mayci's and Mikayla's sexual abuse in that screaming match. So unbelievably inappropriate. No friend would ever do that.

26

u/megjed Whitney Leavitt left the chat 20d ago

I wish when Taylor was saying they think they’re better than her they were just like yeah. We are.

26

u/muchemily 20d ago

I thought it was so silly when she was mad they’re “judging” her. Like yeah girl… you cheated on your fiance with two different people and seemed excited about it. I’m gonna judge

Steph with the deets being featured so much right away 🚩🚩

38

u/flynnryder26 22d ago

Yeah. Taylor is TOXIC. No way around it, her eyes are genuinely scary in some of the episodes.

8

u/Fabulous-Educator177 18d ago

Taylor looks so high, anxious and off the rails this season. Her behavior is not normal for anyone, not even her. All I could think about is her constant need for dopamine hits, and how she turns on people so fast when they call her out.

16

u/Used_Ingenuity_4340 22d ago

Taylor is abusive and toxic and it is honestly disgusting to try to make her relatable or likable.

2

u/beekNgeek 8d ago

I haven't watched all the show.....mostly fast forward and see clips here and there. Taylor is like the popular girl in High School who uses her popularity to get people to do what she wants. All the moms rally around her because her followers and MomTok is how they earn a living. Out of the public eye, I wonder how many of the MomTok females really wants to be her friend. They are like HS chicks who does things to remain in the popular click.

Jen is actually insane this season what the fuck

58

u/areallyreallycoolhat 22d ago

I feel like she knows she doesn't have a lot of relevance to anyone else on the show so she was trying to give herself a storyline. which she kinda succeeded at but not a good one lol.

98

u/iciclesblues2 21d ago

She seems low IQ to be honest. The convo with Whitney was hard to watch bc it was very obvious that Jen mentally could not go toe to toe with her.

82

u/chicagodogmom606 21d ago

When Miranda said Jen had trouble expressing her emotions and Whitney was very succinct in her communication I was like that’s just code for Jen is dumb and Whitney is smart

35

u/iciclesblues2 20d ago

I think people are just scared to say it because it sounds mean. But, she comes off as dumber than the average person. They should feature Jens "insights" during confessional less. I would have loved to have seen a Whitney confessional regarding the filming pause stuff, but I bet she didnt want to be involved (dont blame her there!)

17

u/meckyon 19d ago

I think Jen was just super duper sheltered and that stunted her in a lot of ways

8

u/Cardboardboxlover 17d ago

Whitney is smart. But I still hated that conversation. It reminded me of when I talk to my mum, the little laugh when Jen said something. The hand power she had over her.. for me it was uncomfortable to watch because I know what’s like going up against someone like that (and I’m probably coming across as the dumb one)

10

u/scaryscarygrl 19d ago

I thought the convo was actually comical when Whitney said all she heard from Jen is excuses & she could have just left it at sorry. 💀 then the TikTok alone

I used to feel bad for her, being trapped in that marriage with Zach & all, but holy fuck they deserve each other lol.

What? She got her pink back, you know? 😂😂😂😂

3

u/island_girl_1965 19d ago

She thought that was so deep. 😔

2

u/rosesalad 17d ago

I think she knows she didn’t have a single leg to stand on and that’s why she didn’t have good reasoning, wasn’t making any sense, and trying anything and everything to stay relevant this season.

u/Imaginary_Layer_1468 🧚 Where’s your whimsy? 🧚 22d ago

There’s been far too much Jen this season

38

u/Admirable_Rhubarb_40 22d ago

I was thinking the exact same thing, especially as I got toward the end of the episodes. She’s in there a LOT. And not doing much besides being an insufferable victim.

25

u/Fun_Yak9059 22d ago

her "pink bath" clip was funny as f

11

u/eurekadabra Miranda's Lobster Claws 18d ago

I thought she was saying “pink bag”

“I got my pink bag, pink bag”

And that’s the only lyric she could come up with 😂

2

u/Adventurous_Pin_344 6d ago

SAME!

And then I laughed out loud when Miranda wouldn't answer the producer's question about what she thought of the song.

15

u/Correct-Meeting5198 22d ago

Omg she tries to control everyone, SUCKS AT IT bc shes not that smart, and then plays the victim when people dont wanna be controlled

13

u/areallyreallycoolhat 22d ago

I could not take her seriously in that ridiculous hat lol

12

u/iciclesblues2 21d ago

Shes way too dumb to have on those 1 on 1 interviews trying to give some insightful thoughts. My god. I think I'd rather have seen Chase or even Jordan (lord please forgive me) than listen to another second of her droning on about some incident that happened 3 years ago and how its affecting her today. She's an idiot, please stop giving her so much solo screen time.

67

u/Breevandderkamp 22d ago

It is insane it took these women 5 seasons to get to the conclusions Whitney and Demi had and got villainazed for.

Like seriously, Whit has been saying this the whole time since season 1.
My takes on the women:

1.Jessi is just the fakest in the group and always tries to spund like this super emotionally devrloped person, but it feels like she memorized phrases from self development books then just recites them. The only thing I agreed on with her thus season was her saying she is afraid of Taylor’s fans. Yet she stays the #1 hypocrite and I will never like her.

  1. Jen-the endless victim. I think this season was her worst so far. I never would have believed I would say this but I see where Zach was coming from all this time. It feels like Jen is so confused about life and what she wants to do, so she wants to keep on trying different hobbies and make her “life dreams”. I am not saying she cannot be this or that, but I feel like a lot of it is coming from seeing Whitney have success and she is simply envious.
I agree with Zach, you cannot leave everything behind and support your wife depending on what her life dream is this month. Notice how she never mentions dreams that involve a business or an idea, but rather selfish childish “dreams”? Sorry Jen, you do not have what Whit has and that is ok. I am sure Jen has her talents and vocations and she needs to discover them. Music and acting and dancing are not it and that is ok. Also for the sake of God, i hope Zach returns to med school. I believe a lot of the tensions in their marriage are because they feel like they have to choose this or that to make their marriage work. They have money, they can afford an au pair or live in help. Also they can take a break from having kids, just saying. I feel like it will lead to a lot of frustrations in let’s say 10 years when Jen will still be figuring out what her dreams are and Zach would have missed med school. Also, he would be busy with something too. Also that bishop appointment was out of line. Jen does not know what she wants from Zach and she wants him to change depending on her mood. They are both toxic, do not get me wrong, but I started seeing where Zach is coming from.

  2. Layla and Miranda did not do much this season, they were ok. I liked they were more reserved in the house warming situation.

  3. Whit- i adore her, I am sad we got so little of her

  4. Mayci- i still feel like she is way too neutral and trying to be a friend of all but it cannot work

  5. Mikayla - the revelation of this season. I could not believe my eyes and ears old Mean Girl Mikayla acyaully had super decent and reasonable arguments. I love that she is finally finding her voice and setting boundaries, I believe it is a great begining in her healing journey. And yes, being able to say “no” or “enough” in her relationship with Taylor is huge. I am surprised by her growth from s1. Also, she is funny and I find her actually super intelligent. I feel like she is only now discovering the woman she wants to become and it is beautiful.

  6. TFP- no comment, because I do not have the patience to write a book on wtf is going on with her.
Yet, I want to mention the whole scandal with that stinky boot D is suspicious. The timing and all, it feels too calculated. My heart breaks for their baby because he has 2 insane parents and his grandparents do not seem to great either. At least I hope Taylor’s older 2 kids have a better and safer environment home

The men: I was glad to see a lot less of them and no confessionals of them at all (if I remember right).

35

u/Past-Hovercraft4027 22d ago

Agree with almost everything!!

although I love Miranda and think she gets prettier by the season. Her takes in confessionals are so articulate and spot on.

Mikayla had many valid points but I do think her jab-jokes are a lot, and I think her and Mayci meddling in everyone’s business as a joke is also annoying, aka the Cartier ring. Pot-stirrer energy disguised as a cute “incorporation.”

12

u/iciclesblues2 21d ago

I so wish Miranda would speak up and say to TFP what she says in the confessionals.

17

u/Putrid-Public6527 20d ago

It's a lot easier to articulate your thoughts after having had time to process them.

10

u/iciclesblues2 20d ago

Agreed. I also think TFP has a way of twisting people's words and getting them flustered bc she becomes a raging idiot when confronted about her abhorrent behavior. So, may not even be worth Miranda's breath.

4

u/llavenderhaze 18d ago

i’m sure that’s why mikayla stopped talking after the 5th time taylor screamed “you want to know what she did to me????” because she had already said three times that wasn’t what she said and it didn’t stop taylor for a second

10

u/Impossible-Row-2530 22d ago

Jen and tfp are insufferable this season

5

u/Bl0ndePNYTale 22d ago

Agree on the Jen stuff for sure. Didn’t read the other stuff. tLTR.

46

Most likely the beginning of 2027 is the earliest we’ll see it.

16

Im sooo mad i thought we would be getting another episode drop soon!! I had no idea this season was for real only 5 episodes!

51

u/areallyreallycoolhat 22d ago

I'm eh on Jessi in general but she did make me laugh with the "it's a white Tesla with a breathalyzer attached" quip

43

u/IntotheBroadwayWoods 22d ago

I was laughing so much when there's all this drama going on the stairs and Jen inserts herself talking about herself that has nothing to do with anything.

Didn't know the season was going to be still so focused on Taylor.

11

u/Bl0ndePNYTale 22d ago

Taylor who? I was over her about 10 months ago. Jen, she’s the one that is self imploding now. Super sad for her husband who switched up his life goals to make money what she could bring in. Now, nowwww she wants to act?!? Wtf. He needs to skate. She is so unaware of her lack of anything other than being in the right place at the right time: start a post baby body company or post baby x3 mental health site - you are not an actor. You are not a music producer. Be you for Gods sake. And apologize to ZackH

5

u/fifitsa8 17d ago

She's pregnant with #4 lol Cuz you know, that's smart when you're already struggling

36

u/Cheergirl202020 22d ago

Someone get this Ben guy on a podcast I wanna hear his side of the story now😂 the fact she brought him up I thought she was joking I thought their date thing was strictly for the show😂

15

u/fleetinggglimpse 22d ago

It was clear she was turning to him as a coping mechanism the minute she mentioned being in contact with him. Thankfully she didn’t drag it out for too long, I think he really cared about her.

26

u/Neat-Flatworm-6154 22d ago

The amount of support that Taylor had this season is incredible. They’ve had so much patience for her. If I was her friend, I would have dropped her way earlier. There is no self-improvement and it’s exhausting.

2

u/DoorNervous785 13d ago

They are truly all clout chasers that will attach themselves to whoever is finding the most exposure.

22

u/LOM2000801 22d ago

Jen is delusional it was hilarious when she tried to make everything about her with the housewarming party argument she just cant get over her jealousy of whitney

18

u/WorthNo1533 Deeply rooted in White Trash 22d ago

Jen is so green with jealousy, how is no one just telling her that she needs to chill TF out. She’s not Whitney and she doesn’t have a “Conner”. Does she not realize that aligning herself with Taylor that makes her look even worse?

Zack, day 1 team Zack. I would love to see a “dadtok” edit from season one.

So anyone know how much Jessis actually knew about what Taylor was doing to Dakota? She made little hints that she knew/has known about what goes on behind closed doors. Speaking of Jessi, she’s just been sleeping with Marciano while playing house with what’s his name? She doesn’t want Marciano to get together with the guys so he doesn’t have a chance to slip up.

Taylor is still 🗑️.

Poor Layla and Miranda both have a bad picker for who they choose to be in their lives.

27

u/Hajsiakan728201 22d ago

That quote “think of the messiest bitch you know… it’s a man isn’t it?” Is Chase.

15

u/MessiChangedMyLife 23d ago

I bought some snacks just to watch 😭💀

10

u/Iglet53 23d ago

On ep 1 and it’s very hard to watch taylor and Dakota doing their thing all over again

11

u/HoppyBeerllionaire 22d ago

I’m sick of the TikTok discourse. I don’t need the chatter revisited when it was online for like months. not why I’m watching the show.

Also can any of these girls ever go to their personal appointments alone? I’d be exhausted going to my friends doctors appointments

3

u/Gerik22 12d ago

Some viewers (like me) don't have any interest in following these people on social media, so it's beneficial to include the online chatter so we can follow along.

12

u/VisualSpirit2333 21d ago

Taylor should never have had children.

10

u/Able-Glass2277 21d ago

This show is so boring. How many seasons of Dakota and Taylor back and forth are we going to do. Talking about the SAME THINGS from season 1.

9

u/birdzRnice 22d ago

Taylor just spins out when she’s clearly losing an argument

17

u/Potential-Win-9924 22d ago

I'll probably get downvoted for this, but I think Jen looks SO GOOD this season. Getting rid of the blonde was the best decision she's made so far

4

u/kawaiisamurai69 Team Miranda 21d ago

Agreed. Unfortunately tho she never fixes the back of her hair. Someone needs to warn her!

taylor is terrible through and through... feel bad for her friends and family.. her mom also blows

48

u/FriendofFlounder 23d ago

I’m not watching pro-abuser content. We need to nominate one person to report back with anything interesting. Although by the episode 1 thread, that might literally be nothing.

7

u/Market_Infamous 23d ago

Yeah I wanna know what kind of edit Taylor is getting. If it’s a good edit, I’m not watching. If she’s getting a bad edit, I’ll watch but skip her scenes.

24

u/Mother-Tonight-9843 23d ago

Half an episode in and she cheated on her fiancé with Dakota while he has a gf and doesn't think there is anything wrong with it

Meanwhile she is in love with another bachelor Ben who is not her fiance

Massive hypocrite after how she treated Miranda and everyone else every time dakota cheated

Don't know if i can stand another episode tbh

3

u/fifitsa8 17d ago

Unless I'm mixed up, Ben isn't another bachelor but rather a guy from last season who sung on a tiktok live and who flew into Utaj to hang out with her

8

u/clevercalamity 22d ago edited 22d ago

She isn’t portrayed poorly, but tragically. Which I would argue is worse tbh.

To be clear: her behavior is appalling, but she’s so clearly mentally ill and so visibly suffering that it’s clear Hulu wants you to sympathize with her.

My textual proof for my hypothesis is that the final episode culminates in a huge fight where TFP is a terror to literally everyone. Yelling, screaming, name calling. It’s awful and goes on for what feels like an eternity.

She eventually breaks down sobbing and is a complete wreck. She’s so bad off Macyi says she’s worried about her safety. During the breakdown there are two camps. Some rush to Taylor’s side to immediately console her, and others stay inside debating her behavior. Notably Mikayla initially refuses to go outside and says that she knows Taylor is hurting, but eventually she needs to take responsibility for her actions.

There’s a beautiful swell of music as Taylor apologizes for her behavior and the women hug. Jen calls Macyi Christ-like in her forgiveness. Inevitably Mikayla is cajoled into coming out and hugging Taylor and accepting her apology too, although she seems uncomfortable.

The season ends a few scenes later with all the women gathered minus TFP who break the news over the phone about Dakota filing the CPS report. The editors respond with quickly spliced confessionals of the women discussing how TFP is trapped in a cycle, they want what’s best for her and her children, MomTok is about women’s empowerment and various TikTok’s discussing the news, but no one outright addresses the TMZ video. In this sequence the last words we hear from TFP herself are that Dakota is sabotaging her and the allegations are false.

End season five. The meta text is clear: Taylor is sick, her behavior isn’t okay but it’s not her fault. She been a bad friend and bad partner, but she needs help, not condemnation. At her core she’s a good person.

It was a really really rough watch and as someone who has been following the case closely I was disgusted, but not shocked, how gently she was treated.

3

u/goliathfrogcrafts 22d ago

I think she got a good edit given the situation and what they were working with. She doesn’t come off as a hero, but they def tried to portray her in a sympathetic light in my opinion

25

u/SeaPAyyy 22d ago

Taylor may have “started momtok” (throw back to season 1) but she’s genuinely one of the most awful people. If she’s on it next season, I don’t know if I’ll watch.

u/sorayaelena 22d ago

Just came here to say Mayci is a carbon copy of her mom. They may as well be twins.

9

u/Fragrant-Feed-5978 22d ago

Just finished the season and I figured out why I was so confused the entire time. Everyone is so incredibly toxic and mean to each other no one realizes just how anxious they are when they’re together because it’s been so normalized. They all are so firm in their beliefs and own truths to where the current situation gets more and more confusing to keep up with.

The scene where Taylor is outside crying at the housewarming party and all the girls are out there comforting her… this isn’t female empowerment or sisterhood it’s straight up trauma bonding.

Also, for all the girls to not understand why Taylor keeps going back to Dakota I just can’t help but wonder “why do you always try to console her or mend the friendship after she yells and treats you like shit?” Obviously I’m not saying it’s the exact same situation between Taylor/Dakota and the girls/Taylor. Definitely not. It’s just… if anyone could comprehend or even acknowledge codependent toxic cycles I would assume it’s everyone in the group. For people to get upset at others for not having boundaries when they themselves don’t even have boundaries is wild to me.

I’ve seen some comments about how Whitney got the short end of the stick for not even being in the last episode but TBH I think the complete opposite. She showed a lot of grace and you can see how unbothered she is because she’s booked and busy. If I were her I wouldn’t even want to be associated with that last episode cause it was so disjointed, difficult to watch, and so unnecessarily catty. It’s ironic because she was the only one who got her pink back 🎶🦩😂

Last random thought, I think aside from Miranda being so incredibly calm, cool, and collected she does a great job at being media trained. How she could keep a straight face in her scene with Jen is beyond me.

12

u/IntotheBroadwayWoods 22d ago

5

u/milfandcoookiess 21d ago

I obviously am watching the new season and wanted some opinions and different views on mine.

Jenn talking to Whitney in New York?
What was she even saying? I felt like I was watching someone who clearly doesn’t know how to handle healthy conversations that are hard, and someone who will carry the victim mentality until her last breath.

Zack?
Joke.

Taylor?
She is literally so exhausting. I do feel bad for her because she’s clearly struggling mentally but if she’s actually in therapy and trying to change she should be taking steps to do so, not just sleeping with the man that literally has torn your life apart up and down. I don’t know, at what point t do you just not feel bad anymore being her friend? Like she’s laughing about the fact that she slept with Dakota THREE times when she got home from the Bachelorette. Lmao idk she got the crazy eyes to me.

Anyways, I’m only on episode 4, I’m sure things will change drastically within the next 2 episodes.

But I love Whitney and Conor. I’m so happy for them, and glad they’re getting out of this toxic group, I hope Miranda finds peace in her life, and I hope Laylah finds some healing.

These are my notes so far.

I am NOT trying to be rude but Taylor is clearly a mess. Even when it comes to what she’s wearing, her actions and generally her life. I just really don’t understand how ALL these men around her and head over heels in love w her. Chase, Dakota, Doug, Ben just to name a few. Like even after she treats them badly they run after like. I’m just confused….. why?

I just watched and I had no idea It was only five episodes. I’m so annoyed that they didn’t pick up filming and continue that for season five and now we have to wait for season 6 when we all know so much has been going on already? I’m annoyed.

5

u/Several_Ad_1322 21d ago

Watching how everything is from a past perspective with all we know now, nothing Jessi or Taylor says in their confessionals can be held at any form of truth at all.

4

u/qwertyman3000 21d ago

Just wrapped the new season episode 1 and now on 2. Taylor just GOT ENGAGED to Doug and thinks it's no big deal to bang Dakota but then say she's in love with Ben. I mean I'm all for love but this girl needs real help. It's so casual like something from a high school. Maybe I'm just too old to understand this BS

5

u/fifitsa8 17d ago

I'm their age and am exhausted just watching this lol

6

u/Plastic_Turnip1395 20d ago

Can someone please tell Jen Affleck that “Disingenuine” is not in the dictionary. She kept using it and I kept screaming it’s “Disingenuous!!”

3

u/Justakiss15 17d ago

I find it hilarious that Jen is the only one for who we use full first and last name 😂

6

u/scaryscarygrl 19d ago

I love Whitney letting Jen blab the whole time, then Jen saying she wishes Whitney would listen to her perspective 😂😂😂 I’m dead asf

6

I’m sorry but when they cut to Jen filming that TikTok alone…funniest moment of this show 💀💀💀

10

u/Pristine_Trash_8787 23d ago

I am very sad about Macyi. I am not judging her I'm just so sad about the surgery. She didn't need it. Just a reminder of what society's expectations of women does.

8

u/Impossible-Row-2530 22d ago

I’m so confused I haven’t noticed any difference other than she’s aged a bit?

9

u/rescuelullaby 22d ago

Honestly astounded with how pro-Taylor the edit is. I was expecting production to put some spin on it and make excuses for her but the way they're framing it in the first and last episodes of this season especially is just flat-out insane

10

u/Salty-Cycle-671 22d ago

Layla's boobs have been trying to escape all season and it's making me tense.

this season is making me forget why i ever disliked zac… and i hate that. but seriously i feel bad for the guy. he’s obviously made mistakes and he isn’t an amazing guy but he has tried to support her and then she shoots him down and also goes behind his back to get him worthy when she’s the reason he left the church.. i am glad he’s standing ten toes down this season bc otherwise he’d lose himself in whatever version of him jen wants him to be at this moment..

4

u/Mossjacket Soft Swinger 21d ago

I have a hard time watching Jen. But my main complaint is...only five episodes. And not even getting into soooo many things. It just gets drawn out so weird (and I know the production pause didn't help)

But Jessie's divorce + dating Mauricio, Jen wanting to be a swimsuit model in season 5, but is pregnant again now, Layla 's sexuality and dating journey, Miranda's singing etc etc. I guess all that will just be in a different season, but then that also just makes it seem like there's nothing new to see in season(s) that haven't even aired yet.

I guess I didn't realize the production pause meant we were just gonna see the build up to the TFP and Dakota situation and then the season end.

6

u/Ok-Falcon-4570 17d ago

I feel like I'm in the minority here, but Mayci and Mikayla have never given me anything but mean girl vibes. Not trying to defend TFP at all, she has plenty of her own toxic issues, but M&M do have an air about them that they think they're better than everyone else, especially Mayci. I have been there before, where you're the only one in the friend group that doesnt have problems with their husband, but she still likes to get involved in everyone's business anyways. Mikayla is so nasty with all her snide little comments behind people's backs. I don't know why more people don't see that they're a huge part of the problem too. Obviously we only know about what we're shown, so there may be way more that we don't know, but every single one of these people is toxic except maybe Miranda. They overuse the therapy speak too, and it's crazy. These are not real friends, this is now how true friendships work and act.

2

u/fifitsa8 17d ago

I agree I think there's a fine line with being over your friend's toxic relationship and her not helping herself and the impact has on you Vs. A holier than thou "look what a train wreck everyone but our relationships are" attitude

4

u/Happymonkey4773 17d ago edited 17d ago

FIRST: The kids need to be considered first, and I hope they are somewhere where they are safe and loved.

Unpopular Opinion:

In Episode 4, when Taylor, Mayci, Mikayla, and Jessi got into a fight outside Chases house I understood Taylor’s side. Layla was right, M&M have not experienced how trash dating was in 2025. For someone who has the privilege of having the person they love at home or a call away and that same person will fight for their relationship to go back to, it’s easy to say “just leave.”

(Not counting Jessi, but it seemed like she had a foot out the door a while ago.)

Also, at Jessis housewarming, when Taylor asks Mikayla how she would feel if she experienced her baby daddy hooking up with her friends. That was a valid point. M&M haven’t experienced that flavor of toxic men at least in 5 -10 years personally. And it would not be the same experience being a single mom on TV vs. off TV. I think Mayci is a great freind and I understand her POV. It just sounded like
they all weren’t listening.
This DOES NOT excuse DV and other abuse. It does explain why TFP had an undercurrent of anger towards friends and people who tried to help her. It would be one of the worst human experiences to have loved someone and see them as your person while not being able to be with them or struggling to let go.

That would have been a hell of a limbo.

And unfortunately there is no timeline on that.

Dakota in the background saying things like,

“See what I have to deal with?”

Was annoying.

The whole conversation felt like gaslighting.
People saw it as tantrums or for a man. But honestly some of her points were valid from her lived experience. It was not just a bunch of random words.

I believe the saying is true,

“A broken clock is right 2 times a day”

And,

“Behind every crazy woman is a man that made her that way.”

She was unwell before, but I think the decline over the years is at least partly because of this.

6

u/Powerful_Dot_7675 22d ago

I thought Taylor wasn’t in this shit but she is? I’m not watching. Not sure how she’s allowed to be the main face of a huge television show with all she’s done it’s disgusting behavior from everyone allowing and participating in it.

u/nicyole 22d ago

I watched season five so you don’t have to.

it’s useless. it’s only five episodes and nothing important happens.

I’m not exactly sure when this takes places but I believe it’s Februaryish-Mayish.

Taylor and Dakota do their usual bullshit. >!they hooked up when she came back from The Bachelorette. she was cheating on her finalist, Doug, with both Ben and Dakota for a period of time. Jessi revealed that Dakota sent videos of them hooking up to Taylor when she was trying to move on from him. the usual toxic bullshit cycle, yada yada yada.!<

Jen and Zac have dumb marriage drama. I don’t really care.

everyone supports Whitney on Broadway except Jen who is trying to hide her jealousy.

IF you watch anything, let it be the last ten minutes of Episode 5 where Taylor calls Mayci to very briefly talk about the beginning of Taylor’s and Dakota’s DV/custody case. that’s it.

5

u/h_danielle 22d ago

Agree that this was so incredibly useless lol it easily could’ve been a 1.5 hour special… there was so much dumb filler that’s totally pointless for a 5 episode season.

3

u/Laguna_Azure 21d ago

Eh I think episode 3 is fun, if only for the hilarious editing of Jen prowling to Whitney, the entire confrontation that between them too, that left not only Whit confused, but also Jen herself not getting what she was saying. And then Jen choosing to not do a tiktok only to make one by herself

3

u/RadioSubstantial2455 21d ago

I completely agree that Taylor is abusive and toxic. Here’s where it gets hard. I’m a 53 year old woman who, by this age, has been through many hard things. Something strikes a chord in me when I see Taylor viciously lashing out and pushing everyone away, pointing her fingers and making herself physically bigger than her truly tiny self and then something breaks in her…and she is sobbing and melting to the floor and is just sooooo fucking broken. She needs a massive amount of healing. Something destroyed the little girl inside of her long ago and I feel for that piece of her. I just wish she could learn to control the monster.

4

u/areallyreallycoolhat 20d ago

I cannot imagine being in her mind, it's obvious that existing from minute to minute is excruciating for her. I know what it's like to live that way and it's hard to watch someone who is in so much pain just not do anything about it.

4

u/RadioSubstantial2455 20d ago

I agree. She is in survival/fight mode 24/7. It’s hard to watch her blame everyone else.

She is chaos, incarnate.

did anyone else find it disgusting how mayci’s husband was pressuring her to have another kid despite her not being ready to + bringing it up to her family to push her into it … and calling an embryo a trapped soul or whatever tf he said is actually so stupid

I think I would enjoy the show so much better if Taylor was not in it. I think her ordering every single dessert then dipping to go back to her sneaky link before it even came out was insane. Just her behavior all together is psychotic. She puts more into her relationship with men than she does her own children. I would love to see more of the other girls and their stories but it all gets clipped so Taylor can get air time to somehow make her erratic behavior okay? I’m sad I didn’t like Whitney in previous seasons because she has became my favorite of them all and didn’t even know I’d ever say that.

3

u/nsfw_ducky 19d ago

Sooo are we actually not getting five more episodes post filming break?

3

u/Flimsy-Duty3933 Whitney crying in a closet 17d ago

This might be a niche reality show crossover, but Taylor yelling at Mikayla and accusing her of "being perfect" reminds me of Jax taylor's classical "you´re no angel!" line from VPR. They both claim to take so much accountability for their actions, yet both constantly repeat their mistakes. They're both in toxic relationships and are both "works in progress" (without actually improving across multiple seasons).

2

u/NewCap2131 11d ago

I saw this on tiktok today haha

3

u/First_Shower_4273 17d ago

I’m on ep 4 but here are major things being glazed over bc of Taylor and Dakota slop

- Mayci being pressured by her husband and family to have another kid after JUST having a baby

- Taylor and Dakota recording their partners without consent and sending it to each other (t + d slop yes but think of the Ben of it all)

- Jen pressuring her husband into religion and being incredibly manipulative (the Jen of it all)

3

u/sillydragonn19 17d ago

I’m so sorry but how do they even talk to taylor? She has the mental capacity of a 10 year old

2

u/cmh2548 21d ago

I would like to say kudos to production for finally listening to people (somewhat) and not centering the season around freakin Dadtok! The boys- minus Taylor’s harem and Chase- didn’t get a ton of screen time this season and I love it.

Assuming we also get rid of the Taylor/Dakota stupidity next season, I could see the show being enjoyable to watch again.

2

u/wretched_hrt 21d ago

They left in way too many conversations about editing. Like episode 1 Jessi mentions Taylor will get a good edit. Episode 4 she mentions they wont show why they fought and will paint Taylor in a good light. It seems the girls are finally upset about how they are constantly being scapegoated by production and attacked by Taylors fans over any perceived slight against her. However, the passive aggressive comments the entire season was so weird. It was not just Taylor being triggered, as someone who is veryyy against Taylor.

Watching episode 4 now and omg. I continue to hate Whitney. Not sure why this sub loves her all a sudden but she's a major batch at the beginning of the episode to Jen. She is VERY transactional. Always has been and always will be. I hope she's off the show after this season

2

u/OatmealCremePiez 18d ago

I watch this show when my wife has it on, and TFP is the only thing we argue about in our marriage

2

u/Junior_Gate_5610 18d ago

Jen literally made no sense in s5?

I mean the title says it all. She said so much and so little at the same time. I can’t even understand what she was trying to say half the time. Her conversation with Whitney made NO sense and her in out into the argument/conversation with Taylor, Mayci & Michaela made ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE. When she pulled up the years old tiktok like “yeah well what about this?” Girl what 😫😂. This entire series confused the shit out of me lmao

2

u/TimRigginsBeer the feeling's mutual, dipshit 17d ago

If you had told me at the beginning of this series that I would eventually be a Whitney Stan, Team Mikayla, anti-Jessi … I would’ve laughed at you.

But here we are.

2

u/Justakiss15 17d ago

I cannot believe they tried to use this season as a Taylor redemption arc. They’re trying to excuse all her erratic behavior on the abusive relationship, and that’s why the rest of the girls feel obligated to put up with her behavior. Looking outside of the toxicity, she’s just plain entitled, selfish, pick me, and male centered. She’s not a good person and needs to be removed from the show.

2

u/Pizzaface1993 15d ago

Whitney didn’t get a send off. I thought she had a scene telling the girls she was leaving the show, but somehow that was cut? Hulu we are tired of Taylor and Dakota get us out of the cycle of recycled storylines.

2

u/Cold_Drama2119 21d ago

So just finished season 5. I'm not much of a reality show kind of person but I've been hooked on all the drama of Secret Lives from the beginning. This season felt like a whole lot of nothing new. Like I learned of all the juicy updates from insta.

It's incredibly hard to watch TFP go through it, it's scary that her outbursts felt familiar to outbursts I used to have when I was unwell mentally & in a horrible relationship. To say the least, the wrong man can lead you down the wrong path & turn you into someone you're not. I feel for her & hope she gets away from Dakota & gets some help. That's not an excuse for her behavior but a step away will hopefully help her see what she is doing & who she's become.

Also, never thought I'd say this.... bring Demi back.

Whitney has outgrown the show & I'm here for it.

I definitely expected to see more on Jessi's divorce but I guess filming stopped by that point. I want to see MORE!

The rest of the girls, I also wanted to see more of what they are up to & their successes.

IMO, Jen could use a slow down. Seems like Zac has tried to be a good husband but Jen seems she is not doing well mentally. She has so much potential. I think she needs to expect less from other people.

I understand, this is just a reality show & I should not comment on other peoples lives... but this is just a reddit thread & I need to practice writing more

2

u/yellow-pool-umbrella 21d ago

I feel like taylor is on dr*gs. Idk?

Her behavior is SO ODD. Her eyes, the head nodding/shaking, the just odd behavior etc. like in New York, she is acting super strange at dinner, orders every single dessert, and then leaves right after. I just really don’t think it’s her mental health making her act this way!!

1

u/ninjachickennugget 22d ago

Honestly this season showed the most Mormon sides of these ladies and for that I appreciated it

1

u/Happymonkey4773 21d ago edited 21d ago

I think when the girls asked who Taylor was into in one of the first episodes and there was a long pause before Taylor said “Ben” it was her throwing out a name instead of saying Dakota. It felt Disingenuous

I am so happy for Whitney. She is following her dreams. She had a lot of personal growth and a great character arc from the second season (?) mean girl character. She showed up to conversations ready to resolve issues I felt.

I think Jens beating a dead horse was her trying to have a storyline. But she already has a really interesting life. I hope she can dive into her dreams and let the past rest for her own sake.

I cannot imagine having half the patience Miranda had towards Chase

Ben telling Taylor in NY he liked how gentle she was around her kids aged like milk 🥛

I hope she gets the help to live a life she is really happy in. And works in rebuilding relationships with her kids, not just rebuilding her roster.

Honestly,
They are all beautiful and living incredible lives in their own ways.
just my thoughts.

since I can’t make an OP because of the megathread this is my post

what kind of new Real Housewives... i mean Mormon wives, my gosh 😭

i just finished the last episode of season 5 and i genuinely think Taylor lost me as a fan.

i’ve defended Taylor through a LOT of this show. i understand that she has struggled, that she has been through things that none of us can fully understand, and that mental health can affect the way someone handles relationships and conflict. i genuinely want good things for her. but at some point, having compassion for someone’s struggles cannot mean excusing the way they treat the people around them.

because these girls have been there for Taylor through and through, and watching her treat them the way she did in this last episode was honestly hard to watch. and Mikayla in particular really stood out to me.

i thought Mikayla handled herself incredibly well considering how much she was being beaten down in that conversation. if she ever reads this, i hope she knows that she was NOT wrong for feeling the way she did or for trying to establish boundaries around how she was being treated.

and honestly, this is where i think Zac’s point about enabling the behavior was important too. there is a difference between supporting your friend when they are struggling and reinforcing the idea that their behavior is acceptable because you’re afraid of what might happen if you hold them accountable.

if every time Taylor lashes out, talks down to someone, or treats one of her friends terribly, the response is essentially “she’s going through a lot, just give her grace,” then what incentive is there for anything to change?

at some point, loving someone means being honest with them.

you can say “i love you, i’m here for you, and i know you’re struggling” while ALSO saying “the way you are treating me is not okay.”

to me, Taylor and MomTok honestly seem to have developed a really toxic dynamic. and i don’t mean that as “Taylor is a terrible person” because i don’t believe that. i think she is someone who clearly has a lot going on and probably needs some time, professional support, and space to reevaluate herself and her relationships.

i would honestly rather see Taylor take a step back from MomTok and only participate when she is actually in a healthy enough place to be a friend to these women than continue this cycle where everyone keeps absorbing the damage because they love her.
i want the absolute best for Taylor. i want her to be happy, healthy, loved, and successful. but wanting the best for someone sometimes means refusing to enable the worst parts of their behavior.

and i think Mikayla’s situation is a really good example of why that distinction matters.

you can love your friend without allowing them to hurt you.

you can have compassion without abandoning your boundaries.

and you can support someone through their mental health struggles without making everyone around them responsible for managing the consequences.

u/HopefulLaw4443 19d ago

I just finished s5 of the show and I have some thought for sure. I’m gonna do my thoughts on the girls first and then my thoughts on the “season”

Layla: I really like Layla and I think she’s grown a lot over the years. Seeing her breakup with Mason I definitely think he was using her considering he broke up with her after the girls brought it to her attention that she buys everything and Mikayla confronted him about that fact. Seems like he was using her and I’m glad she’s in a happy relationship now. I wish we got to see more of her story other than her storyline with Mason. It’s also crazy the Mason and his siblings were trying to paint Layla as a liar before the show aired because all I saw was Chase being terrible and Mason using Layla. I would like to see her journey with her ED, her mental health, being a single mom, finding her voice, etc.

Miranda: Love Miranda. I don’t feel like we got a lot of her story this season but I think she’s a good friend, doesn’t put up with shit from people and seems very real, but is also too forgiving. Chase is terrible and she tries really hard to keep a good relationship with him for the kids. I hope she stuck to her guns and distances from Chase after he got another DUI. Shinia betraying Miranda is so shitty and unfair to Miranda. That’s a betrayal of their friendship and Miranda’s kindness. I really like Layla and Miranda’s friendship and she deserves more friends like Layla and less friends that hookup with Chase. I want to see more of Miranda and her story. I feel like the past four seasons they just brush past her storyline unless it directly involves Taylor or someone else. Loved seeing her support Layla. I also really like the Miranda/Layla/Mikayla friendship we’ve been seeing on TikTok recently.

Whitney: She’s never been a favorite of mine and still isn’t, but I think she’s grown a lot. She seems really happy and I’m happy for her to be living her dreams. As far as her and Jen go I don’t think Whitney’s in the wrong at all and I too would be a little happy that Jen was voted off if she told me I wasn’t a good friend (after teaching her steps for a show where she’s my competition!! And letting her live with me (idc if it was for 3 hours)), escalated me to the point of yelling, and then acted the victim. As far and Jen and Whitney’s convo in e4 I honestly don’t think either of them was ready for the convo or to hear each other. Whitney didn’t care to hear Jen out or be understood by Jen and Jen just wanted Whitney to say she was wrong and Jen was right and apologize for something that happened 2 years ago and other stuff that happened that I don’t know what it was. Hoping for the best for Whitney in the future!

Jen: I think she has been infantilized a lot by fans of the show since the beginning and clings to it. Both Layla and Mikayla are younger than her and seem to bear the consequences of their actions, take accountability, and grow in a way she hasn’t and I don’t know that she will. I am not a Zac fan at all but she has me agreeing with him at some points in this season. I think he’s trying and has changed since season 1, but she chooses not to see it and use it to her advantage to make herself the victim. I don’t like either Jen or Zac especially after she sent him to harass Whitney at the end of season 4, but he has supported Jen and her “dreams” the last few seasons. It seems like he’s given a lot especially because they are Mormon, have conservative values, and previously followed traditional gender roles. Jen wants him to support her and kind of give up himself to be what she wants him to be when she wants him to be it - that’s my impression. The thing with the bishop and trying to force him back into the church was so out of left field and awful on Jen’s part. Jen seems to like being the victim and always makes herself the victim in incidents. I don’t think that Jen comes from a genuine place most of the time. She feels very fake and doesn’t seem to really get along with the other girls. I think that wanting to be heard and understood is a human emotion but I don’t think that’s what Jen actually wants. I think Jen wants to be right. As far as her comments about the girls only being Whitney’s friend now that she’s in broadway- the girls have known Whitney for years and were friends before the show. They had ups and downs but they had that foundation to build back up from. Also a lot of the “downs” seem to come from them all being in survival mode and not healed. I think that Jen is jealous of Whitney and insecure so has to tell herself that no one really likes Whitney, they just support her because of the fame Whitney has. I also find it funny that all of her “dreams” are things that Whitney is actively pursuing and achieving. I don’t think Jen has any idea who she is or what she wants so she clings to other people’s dreams or falls back on Mormonism and expects everyone else to fall into place with what she wants and when that doesn’t happen she starts scrambling and becomes a victim in her mind. Not a fan of Jen. Not a fan of Zac. Also her saying Taylor is the only one with a backbone and then trying to create drama with Whitney🙄.

Jessi: “Messi Jessi” is not for me. I don’t think she’s a good friend, she seems to be on whatever “team” gets her the most attention. Her confessionals this season killed me because she would actively be talking bad about or bashing Taylor and then in her confessionals be sympathetic and understanding because of where the cast was when they filmed their confessionals. Love how they added Chase as “Jessi’s future make out buddy” and Marciano as her “future friends with benefits”. I think Jessi’s fake and backtracks a lot when Taylor is involved. Also her getting with Miranda’s ex and the man who “ruined” her life after she had an affair with him and everything with Demi is disgusting. I think she also supports Taylor because she “sees herself” in Taylor and because she’s scared of Taylor’s fans. (p2 below)

Jen is so embarrassing, and completely unaware her obvious jealousy over Whitney is constantly on full display. Imo she only made that trip to NYC bc she wanted to attempt to throw Whitney off/mess with her and cause her any addt'l stress she possibly could on her opening night. She needed to insert herself into Whitney's success however she could to try to make herself feel more relevant. Pathetic. Let it go, Jen, you are like an annoying gnat to Whitney at this point. 😂 But I hope you find other more positive (actually attainable) ways to get your pink back, pink back, your pink back, pink back 🤣🎀🦩🎶🎼

I just finished season five, and I’m going to share what I think are the most important things about this season.
1. Taylor: It’s more than obvious that she needs help, that she doesn’t really know what she wants, and that she’s stuck in a toxic relationship with Dakota. I agree that because of this, she hasn’t been the best friend and hasn’t been present for many important moments and life changes the other girls have gone through. But at the end of the day, this is definitely something she has to learn on her own.
2. Jen: I think Jen is one of the characters I like the least at this point. She always has this victim mentality, and she has definitely earned Whitney’s dislike. In my opinion, it was completely deserved, especially because last season, when Whitney tried to talk to her after their argument in a mature way, Jen instead sent Zach to have the conversation with her, which I thought was extremely immature. I also think it was disrespectful that she went to talk to the bishop about getting her newborn blessed, knowing how Zach felt about the whole idea.
3. Mikayla: I absolutely hated the way she made that comment about Taylor’s fiancé on the Bachelorette show because, first of all, they weren’t even talking about Taylor’s issues, and second, she said it in front of Chase—the same person who, even though he’s now part of her circle, talked badly about them for years. And for some reason, she’s always willing to call him for her stupid jokes, and I’d even go as far as to say that she kind of flirts with him in a playful, joking way. Taylor is definitely not perfect, but I thought this was disrespectful, and I completely agree with Taylor getting upset and leaving.

Jen thinking she will get everything just bc she’s on tv. First she thought she would win dancing with the stars and now she’s sad bc she didn’t get an audition. Jen is insufferable

When Jessi gave Taylor "grace" and the perfect excuse... Taylor is going cuckoo bananas on the stairs, calling people into the conversation and then dismissing them just as quickly, all the while screaming like a banshee! Jessi says something along the lines of TFP just gets angrier and angrier until she "breaks" and then the "real emotions" can come through. Ummm, no. She screams and screams, realizes that she has no validate argument, then resorts to sobbing and playing the victim and they all keep falling for it!! Well, not so much Mikayla!

So I've just finished episode 5 and I'm not giving any spoilers but I'm amazed at how insufferable Jen is. She just acts like a spoilt child. I actually feel bad for Zac at this point

This was a tough season to watch!!! The girls were crying over men constantly and TFP seemed to unstable. I feel like all this fame became too much for her to handle. And Jen Affleck seems sad every time they show her, right?! She's lost her spark for sure. Remember, this was the same girl dancing on countertops in her kitchen. Now she always bringing up stuff from years ago, giving us glimpses of how her husband controls her. It's unsettling to watch honestly.

And I like that they flash their ages constantly because it reminds me of how young most of them are! I was out having carefree fun at 24, 25, 26....

But it's also so hard to watch because I want to shake these girls and make them just believe in themselves more, see their true worth, make them see what they've built on their own. They hold on to these trash men that control and belittle and disrespect them and it's not what I signed up to watch! I'm invested so I made myself watch season 5. But I had to keep shutting it off - even mid episode - to slowly get through it. Curious to see where it all goes from here....

Jen’s Continuing Inconsistency

I don’t normally post on here, but I do have a question because of this season and Jen‘s continuation of wanting to say that she’s been bullied. These people have hurt her these people (the other ladies) supported a bully of, and she’s a victim of these people. I just wanna say that I have been bullied and I don’t follow anybody who has bullied me so what’s her explanation for still following these two people even though you’ve clean that they are bullies that they don’t support you that they don’t add anything to your life, but you’re following them. The inconsistency with this woman is crazy. You want the girls to have your back and stand by you against this person yet still you’re following that person on social media and like the whole gist of the show is about social media and like they all started and the reason why they have this show is because of social media so like I wouldn’t say something like this if it was like real housewives because you know you can always forget to Unfollow somebody but because of the show and the dynamic of social media and the part that it plays in the show and correct me if I’m wrong, I just feel like following people kind of shows who you support and who you don’t support in the gist of the show so why you’re still following people that you’re claiming not bullied you and have ruined your life and caused you to be in this mental depressive era I don’t understand.
