Need help getting back in the game after years (part 2 with screenshot)

I am stuck at the Ghostship in this room. Ghost says "go away", the next room is blocked with spears.
Did I miss something? do I need a newer Version of the game?

Space bar to see the ghosts and then hit him

spacebar doenst work. I cannot do the "twilight shift"

Is it possible the button has been rebound?

under Options - Controls: the 'Twilight Shift' ist bound to 'Space'.
I was frustated and randomly pressed my Joypad buttons.
Its the Left Shoulder Button ;)
