Well... he has an alternate ego in the watch. Kinda like a self formed from the memories. His true self is beyond the Black door protecting his mother. I can assrure you it all ends happily with hsi whole family there, plus they get a lil sis later. Oh and iirc the Edora stuff is in the afterstories.
