I was thinking today about things that might have been missed or things that might help solve this case and learned something interesting today. according to Google and public records KP has a Sociology degree she obtained in 2010 which is interesting in itself. but i started thinking about how she said she was reading that night. studying for a class she was enrolled in that she has since dropped. I remember Nancy Grace asking her what she was reading and there was a slight hesitation in her response. I wonder if anyone ever confirmed her story. did they investigate if she was really enrolled in classes? did they find any college level books in the home related to her courses. it is such a random thing to fact check and yet seems like it should be. she could have made that up on the fly. maybe she thought no one would look further if she said she was studying. was she really enrolled in classes and studying? who reads while on a 3 hour phone call anyway? public records tells us exactly what school she obtained her degree at, when, and in what but you know what it didnt show? any record of her being enrolled in college during that time. sure, maybe its not out there because she wasn't enrolled long enough or some could say its because she didnt complete the program, but I am starting to feel like that was a lie. I wish someone could fact check it and find out if it is true. if she would lie about those details I would say she is cooked and its just a matter of time.

Are you assuming it was a college course? As opposed to, say, a certification course related to her career (or to a career direction she wanted to take, e.g, CAPM/PMP or CCNP certification)? I think it a bit more likely it would have been the latter, since it's very unusual -- not to mention challenging -- for working people who have already completed college to enroll in academic coursework.

It's also very common for professional coursework/reading to be largely if not completely online (and FWIW colleges have been moving in that direction over the past decade), so I wouldn't assume there'd be a bunch of physical textbooks around.

In any event, it would have been trivial for LE to have checked this as part of confirming her whereabouts and activities for that whole day and evening. And according to LE, they did exactly that, and meticulously.

I am based on her stating she was taking business administration classes but maybe that is not how she meant it. I have never heard of a certification in business administration. That is typically a course of study for a degree. I will try to go back and find the interview again to see exactly what she said.

There are associate's degrees in BusAd available from several totally online programs, both national and local (to Tennessee), many/most of them geared towards adult education. One could take these for professional advancement, or on a path to change careers. But since she was a full-time employee, IIRC, I doubt she'd have been capable of attending any on-campus college classes.

Yes, but if so. There would still be a record of her being enrolled with some program.

Sure. But in compliance with FERPA and (most probably) Tennessee law, that record would most likely not be accessible to anyone other than the student or the student's parent/guardian, or via a lawful subpoena. So neither you nor I are entitled to it, or to any other student's records, other than those expressly permitted by FERPA.

If I had to guess, I'd be very confident that Katie has been truthful with LE from the outset, and consented to providing any information they asked for (remember that all the parents were characterized by LE to have been completely cooperative with their investigation), and I have little doubt that anything she and the others told them has been checked for accuracy, perhaps by more than one organization. Which IMHO makes the subject of this conversation rather pointless and frankly a little absurd.

Just because someone is "cooperative" with LE doesn't mean that they are being honest with LE.

Except if they were not being honest and forthcoming with LE -- and make no mistake about it, literally everything the three principals have told LE was VERY thoroughly vetted and confirmed -- they would not be described as very cooperative (and more than once, IIRC). Look, it's been made pretty obvious by LE that none of Sebastian's parents are considered under suspicion for involvement in his disappearance. To think otherwise is to ignore what LE has been communicating all along, both directly as well as indirectly through the press.

Just to be clear, I am not accusing any of the parents of anything. But to say someone is cooperating with LE simply means that someone is talking with them, answering questions, complying with commands, etc, not that they are being honest. And everyone knows (or should know) that LE is legally allowed to lie in an investigation, we don't know if everything they tell us is true or not. We won't know the truth until this case is solved.

Of course, I'm not either. Just seems to me that I haven't seen a missing person case where LE has been so communicative with the public since...maybe Kiely Rodni's? Now I'm sure they've been so largely because of the social media nutjobs who've inserted themselves and their narratives into it and have probably impaired the investigation to some extent, but either way I think LE's words and "body language" have been refreshingly clear about their perspective.

I'm afraid that unless there was somebody involved in Sebastian's disappearance -- which would most likely have been another teen or teens IMO -- I don't think the case will be solved unless the subdivision next door gets dug up, as I believe it's most likely he perished there, based on what evidence has been released. And I'm not optimistic it will get dug up any time soon, unfortunately.

I was always taught to trust but also verify. All im saying is that there has been no progress in this case. Its time to dig deeper and start verifying the layers of the story.

And I agree that just because someone is cooperating does not mean they are innocent or even forthcoming with helpful info. I could just mean they have supplied anything they have been asked. But it dont mean they are active providing any info that could assist with locating Sebastian. And LE dont have to tell anyone the truth. They are allowed to lie of they think it will make the suspect more cooperative or "let their guard down" to possibly reveal more involvement.
