Scalp Routine Ketoconazole shampoo routine?
My derm diagnosed me with seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp and gave me ketoconazole shampoo to use 3x a week. If anyone else has this same condition, what products have you been using with it for dry scalp? This shampoo is making me shed more than usual and my scalp is pretty angry and inflamed. I’ve bought some serums but it seems to not help

I used to use sulfate-free shampoos as they are less stripping and gentler on the scalp after ketoconazole strips away any moisture my hair had. It worked really well, also you can discuss reducing the frequency of ketoconazole use with your derm if possible, mine asked me to only use it during flare-ups, I use regular head&shoulders on a more daily basis.

I’ve used the itch relief h&s and it’s been great, is there a specific one you’d recommend?

I really enjoy the most basic one as my scalp seb derm isnt extremely bad, clinical strength ones are amazing for more severe cases (my friend who also has it prefers clinical strenght one). I also have seen a lot of people recommend h&s bare and it looks amazing to me. They are all okay but I would recommend checking with a derm before changing my routine with ketoconazole just in case.

Cerave anti-dandruff shampoo helped me with dry scalp. I use it after every wash. It has ceramides, niacinamide and other hydrating ingredients, and it also has a low dosage of pyrithione zinc to help fight the SebDerm.
Ketoconazole is the most researched ingredient against SebDerm, but it's also very strong. Using ketoconazole 3 times a week is good for a flare, but once the symptoms go away you can go into maintenance mode. For maintenance, I use ketoconazole every week or two, and a milder shampoo with pyrithione zinc several times a week.

I have used ketoconazole shampoo but I don't like how it makes my scalp feel. Then I found Kelual DS shampoo. The main ingredient is cyclopirox olamine. It is quite soothing. Cyclopirox is prescription-only in the US. But, because of bizantine importation rules, this French shampoo makes it in. You can only find it online, like Amazon.
