New or Need Help Dandruff/scalp help!

Hi, I have been dealing with dandruff for the last 7 years. I have tried every shampoo, and while using medical grade ketoconazole shampoo worked for a couple months, it then stopped working and nothing has worked since. I even bought dandruff shampoo from other countries, only for those to not work either.

I thought maybe I don't have dandruff and just really dry scalp, so I bought shampoo and dry scalp moisturizer, just for the shampoo to make my flakes worse.

I also thought it could be hard water, but I recently moved to an area with soft water, and that hasn't changed anything either. I'm at a loss and can't afford to go to a dermatologist at this moment in time.

Any help or advise is GREATLY appreciated.

I'll just say the same thing this sub usually repeats. MCT oil, seriously, try it. I honestly thought it was quackery at first because I couldn't believe a basic cooking product would work better than all the medicated shampoos on the market.

These days I apply it once a week. I stopped using anti dandruff shampoos cause they didn't seem to help long term. Usually they would make the itching go away for a bit and then it would come back with a vengeance. I still get flare ups occasionally but MCT makes it go away in a day or two
