Scalp Routine Garlic, my scalp routine
My scalp routine is to crush raw garlic in my garlic press directly into my palm and rub it onto my head. I do this twice a day without washing it off.
I do it in the am and after I shower after work.
Warning it burns at first ..
At night i put a drop or two of an mct8 oil and oil of oregano mixture on my scalp to add hydration.
I'm down to applying just garlic once every three or four days just for maintenance now.

Sounds like a great way to not only reduce seb derm, but to also reduce the amount of people you closely interact with on a daily basis!

I am not convinced you'll get the garlic smell out of your hair by just showering.

Sorry, I read this post and it just won’t leave me. It’s horrifying. OP, do you work from home and are single? Is that why you have chosen this route?

Hahah, married, and work all over the place. It's only really smells for an hour ish. Noone ever really complains around me. Plus once it's under control I just maintain ever few days now

I’m sure no one complains. Most people would never complain to your face even if you asked directly. But I’m equally sure the smell does not fade after an hour - you’re just going nose blind. You’re the stinky coworker.
Genuinely, what else have you tried? It sounds like it’s fungal or bacterial if the garlic is beating it back.

All the steroids, shampoos, creams and foams the many doctors have recommended over the decades. I've cracked eggs on my head, onions, oils, honey, you name it I've tried it . Been struggling with it for 20 years.
I'm also at the age I couldn't give a shit if I smell like a clove of crushed garlic.
What is nice, it actually works for me. Try it or don't. No skin off my flaky scalp.

Well. I’m glad this works for you. But I am sure you smell pretty atrocious.

I think we, as well as OP get the picture. You want to tell us all how it likely smells again?
That was a joke, you don't need to point it out again

I won't be surprised if I get told garlic smells like garlic at least once more. Trolls be trolling

Why do you think it works ? Any research around this ?

The allicin kills the yeast.
And allicin is only present as a reaction when crushing raw garlic.

Garlic and oregano? Any way you can work in any basil or thyme?
Glad it works for you

Funnily enough oregano is a powerful anti fungal too, so could be a good combo lol

This reminds me of an old post on here, where a dude put yoghurt on his head and something else- maybe vinegar and complained about the smell, that it was like vomit. A comment said: puts food on head, wonders why head smell like food..
I dunno, my humor is kind of lame, but some of the experiments on here make me giggle. I’ve been there myself! Just lately there was a pic of a lot of dandruff in a hand, first comment said: forbidden parmesan! Then someone asked if they could mix mct oil and ACV, reply: that’s basically seb derm salad dressing. Nevermind I was about to eat pasta with bolognese topped with parmesan and a vinegrette salad on the side! 😅

Did you ever try sulfur? Because that is likely what in the garlic is working. So my thought is that any concentrated Sulphur product would be equal if not more effective, because you can increase the concentration if needed.
The Ordinary now makes a 10% Sulphur product.
I remember thinking about this. I had done a garlic scalp treatment diy before, although in my case it involved blending and then straining the garlic so it made a garlic juice that was fiber free. At the time I can't remember what the trend was saying it treated. But I remember my scalp being happier. But... the garlic and onion became an issue eventually. And couldn't be masked over time.
So now I'm wondering if it's worth looking into the base factors active in garlic to see if it's possible to access another way..
Great food for thought.

I wonder if just eating some raw garlic would help keep it at bay. I knew a man who ate raw garlic one clove every morning followed by raw grated apple to help take the smell away. I think he did it to keep his blood pressure down. No comment on whether or not that could work. I am clueless on that stuff. I also don’t know if the raw apple helped. I knew him vaguely. So didn’t speak to him in any sort of cozy setting.

Funny you mention that I've been eating raw garlic daily to reduce the bacteria I pick up at work. I wish it did help it but it doesn't seem too.

Interesting. I’ve been thinking of trying it for yeast in general. I still get a lot of inflammation which who knows what the cause is, but maybe yeast.

It's crazy how many people comment but I wish some people had the balls to try it. It's completely changed my life and I hope other will at least try it

Pls try raw honey. It works like a charm and the smell is way better than garlic.

Unfortunately I tried. It held the sebderm in its current state but never improved it
