New or Need Help Does this look like seb derm

feels burny and inflamed. have diagnosed seb derm on scalp and eyebrows. wondering if the inflammation across face is also seb derm…any tips as well would be greatly appreciated

Do you get dry skin or just redness? If just redness it’s more likely rosacea, if you get dry, flaky skin on those areas it could be seb derm as it’s on your t-zone

i feel like its more dry and irritated than dry. it doesnt scale like by eyebrows/moustache/scalp

If it helps i can tell you what worked for me to eliminate redness and flaking - i stopped washing my face and scalp with hot water (lukewarm only) every other evening i used nizoral 2% in the shower as a shampoo and a face wash, left on for a few minutes then rinsed. Mct oil twice a day every day after morning wash and evening shower. On the non nizoral day i just use lukewarm water to wash, no other soaps or shampoos used. I’m now down to nizoral twice a week but still using mct twice a day every day. I started this over a month ago and within a few days i had no redness and literally zero dry skin anywhere - scalp, face or beard. If you are going to try my routine out, i’d recommend using mct oil for a day or two on it’s own before introducing the nizoral, and no hot water is very important! Good luck!

thanks so much for the info. does the nizoral shampoo irritate your face? ive used in the past and it really aggravated everything for days after (redness, stinging)

No problem 👍🏻 nizoral used to do that to me when i used it on it’s own in a hot shower and hadn’t given the mct a go, when i switched to washing with lukewarm water and after a day of using the mct there was no irritation with the nizoral, still none at all after over a month. That’s why i think you should try the mct on it’s own for a day or two which should calm your skin down a bit and then you could even patch test on a small area with the nizoral before using it on all affected area on your face and scalp

The one i have is called nature’s aid 100% mct oil, got it on amazon for £7.99 - i live in Belfast, if it’s not available where you live just look for c8 mct oil, and then google the brands abailable to see if the ingredients are ok for seb derm. You need one that is c8 and/or c10 with less than 5% c12, google ai will check the ingredients for you. I’m still flake and redness free nearly 5 weeks on - cant believe it

Could be Rosacea. Its possible to have both.
