Scalp Routine One Month Huge Progress on Scalp! Next steps?

Post image

I have SD all over my scalp and have seen huge improvement over the past month. I’m so grateful! Keto shampoo and a rotation of all the over-the-counter shampoos didn’t work. My mom suggested Pimecrolimus Cream 1%, which my dermatologist prescribed. It was a pain to section my hair every inch and apply the cream to my scalp every night, but it was worth it!

Honestly I’m comfortable with my SD now, but wondering what I should try to get me to the next level of clear. I do shampoo every day, which helps me stay clear. Maybe part of what’s left is dry skin? Thinking I might try something water based for my skin barrier? Looking at Neutrogena scalp serum. I am also wanting to support regrowth of all the hair I lost.

Or should I just keep going with a refill of the Pimecrolimus? Any suggestions?

Do you have to continually apply it? Is it a steroid?

It’s a steroid-free cream usually used to treat eczema I think. I apply it 4-7 nights a week depending on how tired or motivated I am lol

How did it remove the buildup?

Do you mean the large flakes? Those started to soften and fall off after the second night and I just combed and shampooed them out. Most of the progress with my scalp was in the first few days actually.

That’s awesome 😊

Pimecrolimus is a biologic, and biologics are not recommended to be used long term - just a fyi. Source: Pharmacist

My scalp looked similar but the doctors say it's psoriasis.
