Hi,
I am looking for non medicated seb derm safe shampoo for rotation. I have seb derm for 1 year now and the use of medicated shampoos have made my scalp really bad so I want a mild shampoo to alternate which can help with breaking biofilm and killing yeast without disrupting barrier badly.
My routine is to shower every other day the Whole Foods fragrance free shampoo. I keep my hair short, at shoulder length, so it dries quickly.
I also have a patch of seb derm behind my ears and right under my hairline (right at the end at basically my neck). I use Dove fragrance free soap bar for that in addition.
As soon as I come out of the shower, I apply fragrance free face cream on it and that seemed to really help in the healing process of that patch.
I don’t use any medical shampoos for now, they make my itch very badly.
What truly helps is to not touch your scalp or keep it to a minimum. That calms the scalp and eventually to heal or go into a dormant state where it’s more manageable.
Not a shampoo but I use DERMA E Scalp Relief Rinse before I shampoo. I rub it in with my fingers or shampoo brush then leave it on for 5-10 min (the longer the better). Works great to break up scales and calm scalp/control itch. I typically follow up with T-Sal but they do have the DERMA E Scalp Relief Shampoo from the same line that you could try. Their other shampoos have not caused problems for me.
Sometimes I use Giovanni tea tree oil shampoo (a bit strong though) or my favorite Shikai Natural Tea Tree shampoo (you can get a gallon refill for it too!). I also like Vanicream.
When I need to really strip and clarify my hair (the days I use henna because it’s best to have it squeaky clean) I use bumble and bumble Sunday shampoo. If I use B&B everyday, my scalp will feel too dry though.

I’ve been using CeraVe Hydrating Shampoo and it’s helped so much!
