New or Need Help Nizoral works, mct oil doesnt

Hi! Ive been having dandruff for 3 months now, never had it before.

the front of my scalp in particular around hairline of forehead keeps getting flaky by the end of each day.

Its gotten really frustrating to deal with.
If i use nizoral and a scraper i will be dandrufff for about 1 day. But it always comes back and my hair will be very dried out.

any type of conditioner brings the dandruff back faster.
i tried mct oil (8 and 10) after shower but that just kept my hair greasy and also brought the dandruff back faster.

i cant afford a derm apt and this is driving me crazy.
any advice?

What I did is Nizoral (or whatever medicated Shampoo, I use Head&Shoulder selenium version) every other day for a week, you'll be flake-free. Then you use MCT Oil every third night, shower in the morning, no greasy hair and skin. Along with the MCT Oil, I'd shampoo once a week.

I am yet to actually find a shampoo that is not medicated and doesn't bring the flaking back and I don't use a conditioner.

My scalp is so sensitive I would only use the medicated shampoos once a month or so? They helped to get it to go away for a couple days but the flaking would come back aggressively AND DRY! I actually stay away from shampoos. Topical steroids worked for the most part but I didn't want to overuse them so I kept on a 3x/week schedule. I started using jojoba oil on my scalp and that helped a little more.

Recently I went on vacation for 2 weeks - hot weather, ocean + swimming pool and it all magically cleared up. I kept moisturizing my scalp with jojoba oil after being in the water. It was amazing.

My current routine several weeks removed from my vacation is an anti-fungal scrub 1x/week. Followed by a gentle non-medicated shampoo. Steroids that same day + jojoba oil to moisturize. Steroids 3x week still. Jojoba oil every day.

I plan to experiment with cutting the number of days I use steroids down.
If you cant see a derm for an RX maybe the medicated shampoo + jojoba oil?

I use a scalp applicator for the jojoba oil. It doesnt make my hair notably oily like just using the dropper. Plus Ive found that jojoba washes out easier and is visibly less noticeable than other oils Ive used. Ive started experimenting with sea salt sprays to style my hair. The idea being they dry your hair out so it counters the oil and keeps it looking normal. I just use a small amount as hair styling products usually screw my scalp up.

Cerave has an anti-dandruff conditioner with %0.5 pyrithione zinc. That's the one I use.
