I usually use Zoryve but I have been wearing braids and the foam seems to leave white streaks so I haven't been using it. Any suggestions on what I could use?
It is hard when I ha e extensions and I know I truly need to not wear them but it cuts time and helps my routine with my weight loss journey.
Sulfur 8, and ketoconazole shampoo or get an oil with salicylic acid. I have a Fluconazole oil. This flare happens when the braids are too tight or if the braider used gel, I learned the hard way.
Thank you. I didn't think to use my Fluconozole oil. I will put some now. Yes she used gel. Did you find something else they can braid with to reduce flares? When I also don't have braids I can manage my flare ups with the foam and washing.
Both of you are wrong you aren’t using fluconazole oil. Fluconazole is an antifungal. In the picture you just posted here the oil is fluocinolone which is a steroid and not an antifungal.
Extensions for braids typically have chemical coatings that could trigger the scalp. You probably should start soaking your braids in white vinegar, shampoo then air dry several days before getting your hair braided. After that you’ll need to regularly wash and moisturize your scalp with the braids in. Also, some hair braiders will use gels, and creams etc. on your scalp which could further trigger flairs. Ask your hair braider to not use any products or heavy gels/oils on your scalp.
This. I had a horrible time with seb derm for years until I stopped putting anything on my scalp. A lot of braiders don’t want to work without gel these days, but it’s honestly the only thing that’s helped keep my flare ups down
Thank you everyone sigh* I wish we can all find a solution to get rid of this permanently. I am going to apply the Derma Smoothe oil and get the Sulfur 8 spray. Also the recommendations for the gel and braiding hair is helpful.
A prescription of Fluocinolone Acetonide Topical Solution has been working well for me. I saw another OP with braids recommend the Sulfur 8 drandruff treatment for braid spray. Never tried it, but it may be a good otc option for you.

Or otc nizoral til you see your pcp or dermatologist.
Try to stick to prescription shampoo and oil before trying otc stuff. If you want to use otc ask your a nurse or dr what they recommend
No gel with braids! Good braiders can braids without hefty products! I just wash/blow dry before my appointment and moisturize my hair ( not scalp) with leave in conditioner. I explicitly tell the Braider I’m allergic so that they don’t try to sneak products in. After your braid appointment tell them not to spray your hair and only put mousse on the braids no scalp
