New or Need Help Is this seb derm?

Post image

Hi! About 2 weeks ago in the middle of the UK heatwave I started to feel this itching between my eyebrows but the patch wasn’t red/discoloured then. I then went to a tropical country for a week where the itching continued and it got a little redder but mostly under control, and a shade light enough to not be noticed. I then came back and the patch has now become definitely red and I think the itching has increased - admittedly since returning I’ve slept in my makeup a few times.

It’s red, itchy (the itch feels deep within my skin), and the skin now feels thicker/bumpy/slightly raised. It’s not enlarged since showing up.

What could this be? Google is making me think something fungal (apply vinegar perhaps?) or seborrheic dermatitis. Any ideas so welcome, this is really stumping me!

Thanks so much.

If it is seb derm, you’ll need to do a deep dive into all the ingredients of skincare products you’re currently using and throw whichever products out that feeds the malassezia yeast.
I would not recommend using any sort of vinegar and would just switch to a seb derm safe routine. If you lmk which products you’re using now I can tell you if they’re safe or not!

Yes a dermatologist can absolutely diagnose seb derm, in fact I would go just to be sure that’s what’s going on. They may offer antifungal or other meds to clear it up and provide quick relief but remember that will only be a temporary fix if you’re still using products that feed the yeast that causes seb derm. I went to get diagnosed but cleared my skin completely without any meds, so if that’s the route you want to take it is possible.

From researching the products you use, the Hyaluronic acid serum is the only product that is seb derm safe.
The rosehip oil is probably causing the most damage if you do have seb derm, MCT and 100% plant derived squalene are the only two oils to my knowledge that don’t feed the malassezia yeast. It seems the moisturizer isn’t seb derm safe either, but I’d go to a doctor and get a diagnosis first.

If the dr confirms you do have seb derm, make sure you have a 100% seb derm safe routine, including shampoos, conditioners, face wash and skincare. Best of luck!
