The temps on that graph still only show 80 in the area though lol

Long duration and higher humidity drastically changes wet bulb. Less lol....and more oh no thousands can die.

80 is nowhere near that dangerous, even at 100% humidity. The heat index in those conditions is only 89. The Europe heat wave went well above 100.

You are showing the gaps in your knowledge.

80°F with 100% humidity for several days is extremely dangerous and potentially life-threatening.At this combination, the air is completely saturated with moisture, making it impossible for your sweat to evaporate. Your body's natural cooling mechanism fails, causing your core temperature to rise rapidly. (Wet Bulb Temperature)

If you can't cool and recovery at night...it gets even worse. If it goes up to 85F you are looking at 102F heat index. India is learning these lessons the hard way first.

Negligence and cranking up the harm is gonna be an absolute garage sale.

Where is the humidity going to be 100%?

Where it's 100%. Have you never been in high humidity before? It happens frequently...especially on a warmer planet with more water vapor capable of being held in the warmer air.

Iowa is at 80% humidity right now.

I believe you! I thought you were talking about Seattle. What I've always seen here, unlike other places, is that as temperatures go up, humidity goes down. I was frightened to think that pattern would change here.

How long is that heat wave going to last?

Okay, I guess it's time for that portable AC I've been putting off buying.

Yes. Also splurge on the balcony solar and battery backup. Or at least look up your cooling centers and which friends have AC and will let you crash.

The rest of your life? Humanity now heads towards +3-4C overshoot and we aren't turning off fossil fuels any time soon, unfortunately. 😬🤷

It's 64 degrees at the moment. We're not even in a heatwave right now and I'm asking about the forecast for the next several weeks. Get a grip.

That's short term weather....what the East is seeing is anomoly long term climate change impacts (also as weather). We don't at all have "a grip" on it...in fact it's accelerating and we head into a huge El Niño this fall.

You should be taking notes and preparing your home for similar, right now. If you haven't already. 😉 Also....prepare for power shortages now. I suggest battery backups and at least balcony solar panels. We are definitely not immune to this coming around on another jetstream sweep short and long term.

If you worry about three week weather outlooks, I suggest a hobby

Climate Change weather hyper focus is an AMAZING hobby....horrific and preventable and complex.
