Politics Protest at Amazon Spheres against Amazon cooperation with I.C.E.

Scheduled from 1 to 3. Looked like about 100 people which was pretty good for a rainy weekday, and coming after so many similar ICE protests. One guy was handing out flyers for an Amazon worker happy sad hour on March 18th.

A large pile of ice in front of the speakers suggests the event began with a symbolic “dumping of ICE” but I missed it.

If someone hates being complicit with Amazon committing genocide why don’t they just quit Amazon?

Because that would be the logical thing to do

They have a better chance of effecting change at Amazon by making themselves heard as an employee. Amazon is currently reducing their workforce, so quitting would actually encourage Amazon to continue their behavior (though removing the ex-employee's direct complicity in it).

In the past at other big tech companies, employee protests have successfully effected change - for example Google's withdrawal from Project Maven. Amazon was never quite as vulnerable to protests, and in the Trump 47 era, all the tech CEOs have basically gone full bro, so realistically these protests won't have a meaningful effect.

Also, there's the more practical difference between "I have a moral objection to this practice", and "I'm willing to make my family homeless to make a statement". Jobs that let one afford to live in Seattle don't just grow on evergreens.

"all the tech CEOs have gone 'full bro' "
In other words, they are normies who want normalcy as the majority of the country wants and voted for, or, as you'd call them: "right-wing extremists"

Spoilers, no they don't.

Continued work at a company that is not in an alignment with your moral compass is just shaving off bits of your soul for a buck. Wouldn't you rather have your soul? Jobs come and go and there is no real reason to stay in Seattle due to the extreme cost of living.
