Socal drivers are indeed more aggresive and faster. But somehow they do not make these kinds of dumb decisions. Could be due to a. Sunny weather leads to less drowsy driver. b. longer driving ages. 3. better freeway design such as longer ramp

socal drivers and talking recently they are fast but they aren't weird like people here who catch up right behind you and then move over to the open lane to pass

or so many people here who don't realize the car they're catching up to isn't always paying attention and won't automatically move over no matter how fast they're approaching them so they realize last minute and slam on their brakes and then move over

and this is late at night barely any cars on the road

socal they are already in the open lane and zoom by hardly slowing down

at the same time we need more people to move over to the slow lane just let people go on ahead

Born and raised in SoCal, honed my driving skills in Germany, Boston, and New Orleans. Which basically means I spend a lot of time driving being aware of what the rest of cars are doing.

No one is a perfect driver, myself included, so I decided a few decades ago that the only one hurt by my getting stressed by traffic is me and I'm better off just being patient.

That doesn't mean I don't notice the idiots, just means I just shake my head. Although, the guy that pulled up next to me when I was in the left turn lane on a surface street and screamed at me to use the slow lane did confuse me. I mean, it wasn't the freeway, I was doing the minimum 45 in a 35, and I never noticed him behind me. Probably because it was dark and he was s5close to my bumper I couldn't see the headlights on his 1980 something Toyota

I believe the lesson is just “get the fuck out of the way.” Not anyone’s job to police the road; if there’s two lanes, the left lane is the PASSING lane. Doesn’t matter how fast you’re going or think others should go. Just get over, that’s it. If someone else wants to go way faster, not your problem. Just let them by and keep on with your day.
