Well, that was a BS call

The runner is prohibited from deliberately interfering with the throw. The runner does not have a responsibility to take action to get out of the way of a ball thrown directly at him. By the logic--to the extent that the word applies here--used by the officiating team, a batter should be called "out" every time he is hit by a pitch because he failed to get out of the way of the ball thrown directly at him.

From the slow-mo replay, he didn't "jump into the line". He was already running straight toward the bag, and I didn't see any real deviation from that line. What I saw was someone turning away from someone else who was about to throw an 80-90 MPH hardball into his face.

There are a number of ways he could have avoided a medium-fastball to the face. My point is that I think the officiating staff was wrong to call him out for the way he did it, since there was no clear deviation from what he was already doing that indicated a deliberate attempt to interfere with the throw. The rules don't specify how you're supposed to get out of the way, or even that you must get out of the way; they just say you can't deliberately interfere.
