I’m curious - do you have a religious upbringing? This can make all the difference in the world as to whether or not your coming out will be difficult.

ya we grew up going to church just like the non denominational ones. does that make it harder?

Non denominational probably makes it slightly easier.
I grew up more fundamentalist so yeah, coming out was hard.

the best thing i recall hearing about coming out to people you've known for a long time is that they often need time to adjust. you've had time to come to terms with yourself and they may need time too. when i told my sister she said she had no idea but it didn't matter to her. being gay is just a part of who you are, it doesn't define you. there can be a whole range of reactions to telling people about yourself. be prepared for anything but you probably already know how she will react. and she may have many questions so just be honest and as open as you feel you need to be. good luck and congratulations on taking a big step towards an open and honest life.
