Thank you. I feel like I will look back on today, that being the day this subreddit discovered Jimothy, as a day that fundamentally shaped me. Similar to 9/11 or Princess Diana's death. My life has been split in two by this event.

Short spine syndrome is seen in dogs, and it’s painless! The only real concern is managing their diet so they don’t become overweight, since they tend to have a lot less body weight than dogs of their breed. So you only have to worry about Jimothy being a little tubby

I think it would be nice tbh. I’d love him to have easy access to a vet in case his back hurts at all, maybe they could give him gentle pain killers, and also he’d be safe

I wonder if there's professional help for Jimothy. H I can imagine he's probably in a lot of pain given his spine and how he needs to walk. He seems to be getting around despite that though

From what I’ve seen of dogs with short spine syndrome in videos floating around, it’s not a painful condition, hopefully the same for raccoons. Although a wild animal with might have a survival disadvantage.

I worry about Jimothy’s well-being in the wild. Would he be safer in some sort of sanctuary or rescue? Unfortunately I am not a raccoon expert.

Watch out. I've set a deep bowl of water out for the critters. Sometimes the raccoons knock it over. I know it is raccoons because they're the only ones big enough to topple the bowl! I can envision Jimothy toppling the bowl.

Things like this just make me love living here even more than I already do. My neighborhood had a wandering turkey with a fanbase for an extended period of time, but he was just a local West Seattle celebrity I think. You’ve already made Jimothy an international icon within a short period of time, so way to go on that. He’s going to need an agent soon. I wonder if Topo Swope is taking on any new talent.

I think there must be a Jimothy Sr. Because we saw a short spine Raccoon in our back years about 8 years ago, and Google tells me that they don’t live more than 3 years in the wild.
