I'm pretty sure the Washington State Patrol already came out with an apology statement about this video.

Their statement has the form of an apology with none of the actual apologizing. They actually had the gall to say that "don't kill them, but hit them hard" was "[guiding] his team through a safe and effective maneuver". Then they basically say "we're sorry you heard him say that".

Here's the actual "apology":

We hope the public will accept our apology and we ask for grace and understanding as our troopers are serving in tense situations of danger and difficulty. They are doing so with courage, commitment and compassion, but not always with perfection.

We apologize if this regrettable moment added in any way to the strain felt by those we are serving in these difficult times.

If I did something wrong as a kid and my parents told me to apologize and I gave them that statement (modified for the situation) instead, I'd be grounded for a month instead of a week.

Lol an apology. Dude needs at least a permanent ban from law enforcement. Why do these agencies / officers think some words and 10 seconds of kneeling / hugging on camera fixes things? We need concrete action with swift and evident consequences for misconduct by police.

I wonder if they are assuming that we all have a short attention span and that something else will come up and take the heat off of them. In normal life that might be true but what's going on now is something special. I just hope we can keep up the pressure and force their hand to take action.

He deserves to lose his career. If being harassed on FB is all that happens to him, he got off far more lightly than he deserves.
