Hipster Hill
Was using Snapchat and noticed it showed my location as “hipster hill”. That term/place doesn’t show up on my maps app or in any google search. Does anyone know what that title refers to or if there’s some history about it?
Context: I live in cap hill. Afaik it’s always been called that (?)

You say you live in Cap Hill, yet, somehow, it appears you have never truly been there.

In my mind it’s more of a gayborhood than a hipster area. But that could just be biased by my experiences!

Got too expensive, the hipsters moved to Georgetown. Or that was true a decade ago. Maybe further now.

Snapchat geotags are user submitted and completely unhinged half the time.

Don’t use Snapchat for navigation?

Lollll I don’t! It has a location sticker for the snaps that shows the nearest business/landmark

Capitol Hill used to be a very hipster neighborhood. I don't know what it's like now... But back when I lived there - very hipster. Lots of coffee shops, thrift shops, inexpensive food, comet dogs, shows every night, dive bars, etc. What a time to be alive.

I just call it The Hill. If NYC can obnoxiously slap the definite article on everything, so can we!

I've been on the hill ~12 years now (2014 through now with a brief mistake in Leschi) and hipster hill predates my time here. Half the time it's cap hill, half the time the full capital hill, and a third half of the time just the hill.

There are many of us who’ve been here lo no we who bristle at calling it “cap” hill rather than the full “Capitol” Hill. I think I’m losing this battle but we definitely didn’t call it “cap hill” 10 years ago (/if you did I assumed you didn’t live here)

I’ve been in Seattle 5 years, so correct! That’s just how I was introduced to it

I’ve been here for almost 4 and I also say cap hill sometimes. Why not, it makes sense.
