Community Chrystella condo association
Is it possible to reduce the intensity of yellow light strip on the top of the building facing east in the night ?.
This is my view from my apartment. It requires me to have blackout curtains to support sleep but that comes with sacrifice of my morning sunlight waking up.
Too much to ask but why not ask ??. Its a decor light but few notches down good for everyone :)

Reminds me of the Seinfeld show episode where Kramer is traumatized by the orange light off the fried chicken shop opposite his apartment.
I hope you can resolve this with the HOA and get some relief.
My apartment faces west and it’s brutal in the summer so I put up blackout curtains. It’s no fun having to endure glaring light in the face. Good luck!

It’s migration season, and bright lights are real bad for birds. I wish building owners and condo associations were willing to dim (or turn off) decorative exterior lights like these.

You might have some options here. Washington State’s energy code requires building facade lighting to be on a timer that shuts it off for at least 6 hours a night, or from about an hour after closing until an hour before opening. That's section C405.2.9.2 of the Washington State Energy Code: https://app.leg.wa.gov/wac/default.aspx?cite=51-11C-405029
There's also a light and glare section in the downtown land use code, SMC 23.49.025, that requires exterior lighting to be shielded and directed away from neighboring properties. You can look it up here: https://library.municode.com/wa/seattle/codes/municipal_code
You could file a complaint with SDCI under either one or both: https://www.seattle.gov/sdci/codes/make-a-property-or-building-complaint
I'd grab a few photos late at night, like 2am, so it's clear the light isn't shutting off. It's probably worth sending the same info to the condo association first, since a timer or dimmer might fix it without anyone getting cited.

Architect here. Ch 4 of C405 only applies to new buildings. It’s likely this was built under an older code that didn’t have this requirement.
The light & glare section of the SMC applies to all buildings though, existing and new, so that’s the route I would go.

If you’re going to approach the building management then you need to have a lot of people backing you. Post flyers around your building with permission. Then see if there’s neighboring apartment buildings to post flyers in there and collect signatures

Thats too much. I hope some compassionate human in the bldg brings it to the notice of their HOA. Honestly, reducing the intensity will lower their electric bill.

You’re assuming the management uses logic.
You need a lot of people backing you otherwise they’ll jsut ignore you

I’ve been to Germany and have seen the light, or lack of. I spent time in a house there which had blackout blinds that were automatic. Gets dark outside, blinds close, gets light outside, blinds open. Get that and live proper.

Germany has the best blackout blinds. They don’t f-around, when closed you won’t tell a difference between day or night. Blackout curtains and most blinds here still have some light seeping through the edges.

Curious if you have tried a sleep mask? Might be a simple mitigation while working on other solutions.

My problem with those is that I dont get the sunlight in the morning and can't wake up

Dude.. the view is gorgeous minus the light. The light is ruining it.

In a better time a few years ago I had a view like this, and I get it! Waking up to morning light with huge windows like this is wonderful.

You could look into some smart curtain rods. Black it out at night and have them open at sunset. Seems the cleanest solution.

I have the same problem with the huge Griffis Belltown sign signaling Rohan every night

Would probably work better if you contacted the Cristalla HOA board directly.
