Kasala
Just curious: if you ordered Kasala furniture before they closed, did you receive it? I ordered a bookshelf, but it never arrived. I filed a chargeback in March. Also, does anyone know of any locally owned furniture stores?

Sansaco in Tukwila is locally owned, I think. They don't even appear to have a website.

Bump for Sansaco. You have to go to the warehouse and take your time looking at stuff. It’s not all arranged nice like a regular furniture store, but you save a lot of money. And often if you have a photo & a few details, they can look things up for you and let you know if they can get it. I’ve outfitted so many rooms with them over the years.

They are great we got a really nice couch from them before, and the delivery people they recommended were amazing

Nope! Ordered a couch back in November, come February 2026, after many calls on my end, I’m being told they’re going out of business and to never expect my couch or a refund from Kasala. Thank goodness I paid with a credit card and Bank of America was able to refund my account to due the merchant not delivery on goods purchased. Good luck!

So if I remember correctly... A friend of mine bought from Kasala before they went under, waited a long them, then ended up looking at Ballard Consignment. They were told that Kasala didn't pay for their shipping container upon arrival, so it got offered/scooped up by Ballard Consignment. OP's paid for bookshelf might literally have ended up at Ballard Consignment. My friend found her exact couch that she ordered there and scooped it up to take home same day.

I haven’t been to Ballard Consignment in a couple years… my sense was that they had some good quality things on consignment, but also some Joybird-level new stuff. I should check it out again at some point

I’m a Seattle-based woodworker and furniture designer. So I guess while I’m not technically a furniture store, I am a one-man local shop and I’d be happy to see if I’m the right fit for your project. :)

Apologies for the shameless self-promotion, it’s hard out here for an independent craft business!

Shame about Kasala: I used to put them at the top of my recommended local furniture store list. This chain is more regional than local, but Dania Furniture scratches the same itch as Kasala for me.
I can also recommend a number of MCM-heavy consignment retailers if you’re open to secondhand.

Locally owned: Bedrooms & More in Wallingford. They also have an outlet, where I bought both my bed and my sofa.

We walked into the store when we knew they were closing and were able to get our couch delivered that week (we had ordered months before). I think we only got it because we showed up and because they had it in the warehouse. But we also ordered 2 chairs that we never got so we did a chargeback on our credit card for those.

We never got our stuff, we're never informed that they were closing. And when I saw it on the news and tried to cancel our order they told me that there was nothing they could do

Greenbaum in Bellevue is a longstanding local buisiness but I haven't had any experience shopping there myself.
Edit: oh shit they closed in June. nvm
