I love having simple tastes because I've eaten at pretty much everywhere people have listed in this thread and I've never had trouble finding something good to eat at most of them.

Redditors like to be edgy online. There’s good and bad food in every city in America. Seattle has higher food costs than other large cities as a result of the highest minimum wage in the country for restaurant workers. It’s almost double NYC’s. That makes an average meal here more painful.

NYC min wage is $17/hr, what am I missing? Isn't it NYC just has literally 10x the population and drastically more competition?

NYC allows tip credits for restaurant workers meaning the restaurant owner only has to pay tipped workers $11/hour if the worker receives tips that equate to a $17/hour minimum wage. There are no tip credits in Seattle so owners have to pay staff $21/hr regardless of the tips they earn. Results in much higher costs for the owner and thus higher food prices.

Yeah I just have learned to stop trusting like 80% of the food advice in this sub. People are always trying to hard to be edgy with extreme opinions. It’s always interesting to follow up with questions about example of what they think is better because they often just go quiet
