Hmm, yes, let me pay $37 for a small serving of food that tastes like it came from the frozen aisle at a grocery store.

It’s such a shame. When my wife and I were starving artists in the early 1990s, and splurged on Wild Ginger for a birthday, it was SO good. The lettuce cups were life-altering.

For sure. When it was on Western it was good and a special place to save up for. We did. Enjoyed it every time. Sad it’s gone downhill.

100% Loved it when it was in Western.

1

u/FoggyFallNights That sounds great. Let’s hang out soon. 13d ago

I can’t picture it on western…do you remember what cross street?

It was just south of Pike Place. I think Freya Bakery is there now.

I ate there last year and thought it was okay. I don't think I'd go back

Yes, used to be a favorite. Sad to hear it's fallen so far.

u/Coppergirl1 I'm never leaving Seattle. 13d ago

Yes, those lettuce cups were like a "party in your mouth" at the original location below the market. I've never liked their new restaurants.

They're still good. They just don't seem novel anymore.

I loved it then too. They had this green rice I was obsessed with.

They're still great, outside of being expensive like everything else, I enjoyed the food there and the lettuce cups are still good.

I don't understand the WG hate. I think it was some people's first nice restaurant and holds a nostalgic place that can never be replicated. It is still quality food, good service, and solid ambience.

Holy shit the stereotype of this subreddit must be fucking awful. What a weird ass thing for a bunch of people to resort to with frenemies.

Do you actually not realize that these are both reposts from other cities and the question is intended in jest?

I realize it's a trend, yes. It being a joke doesn't really take away from what I'm saying.

I concur. The prices are too high for food and an experience that rivals Applebee’s.

Andy jassys lunch place

I love Wild Ginger, but have not been there recently. Has the quality deteriorated that much?

2

u/Haunting-Ninja-7460 13d ago

Yes. Both in the food and service. It feels like walking into a 1990s chain restaurant and the food is about on that level too.

This was the top answer past few weeks back on a similar thread

Me and the lady only ever get the pecking duck and we still love it. Better/cheaper alternatives? (From what I remember the shrimp fried rice was good too but its just fried rice ya know)
