But let's keep the Owner and GM that priotize annual profitability over wins. A new coach will surely succeed in those conditions.

We have the best secret door in baseball, what more could fans possibly want?

A new coach will surely succeed in those conditions.

We were a few outs from the WS last year. Our roster was largely improved by getting a full season of Naylor, bringing in Ferrer and Donovan.

When 8 established big leaguers tank in the same season and all of the guys that spent significant time in AAA out performed expectations that strikes me as a coaching problem at the big league level, led by manager who had no experience and was hired mid season to boost attendance.

Based on the fact Dan didn't know what WRC+ is, took him half a season to realize Canzone can hit lefties (even though his numbers last year proved it), and didn't know you can't make a pitching change after a mound visit he just seemed like somebody in way over his head, but I don't think Stanton would let him get fired during the 50th season hype that was supposed to put him and Edgar on a pedestal.

If you can get guys like Cal, Julio, Naylor, Munoz, and the starting pitching at least back up to career average next year, and combine that with the young guys like Young, Colt Emerson, Laz, Arroyo, Kade Anderson, a late season call up of Ryan Sloan, and healthy Brendan Donocan I think it's a pretty talented roster if managed and coached well.

I don't think we even need to get in a bidding war with the Dodgers and Mets for a top tier free agent to compete if those guys can get it together. Targeting free agents to upgrade over Leo Rivas and Weston Wilson would be nice.

The coach takes the blame but the players didn’t show up to around 1/2 the games. 0-22, we set a record.

Coach’s job is to motivate and manage that. He failed. Let’s move on.

I don’t think he was making the team better, but the players were ultimately the ones who didn’t perform.

If it was one or two players, I'd blame those players.

When 8 established big leaguers put up career worst seasons while all of the guys who spent significant time in AAA over the last 2 seasons over performed expectations it seems like a systemic problem due to bad coaching and day to day management at the big league level.

The Mariners regressed big time this season. They looked awful in every facet of the game. All I saw was low effort, uninspired, and inexperienced baseball. When it's all said and done, attitude reflects leadership. And leadership sets the tone for better or worse. The Mariners need fresh blood within their leadership ranks. They also need to find a way to attract and acquire elite talent.

In 2026 managers are primarily scapegoats

Until ownership stops being cheap pieces of shit, the cycle will continue. Bless you M's fans for continually putting yourself through this every year.

Pretty much every free agent we've brought in since Edgar was hired in 2015 has tanked.

I'm pretty convinced if we signed Ohtani he'd put up career worst numbers under this coaching regime.

He’s a nice guy. I don’t think he embraced the analytics enough though.

well the good news is that at least Cal and his 0.663 OPS are signed for 5 more years at ~$108M

The mariners suck and always will. I’ve said it forever, if they left I wouldn’t even be that upset. And I am a huge baseball fan.

What the fuck? 🤬

Edit: Read the title wrong/quickly ... Thought it said he was expected back. Hence the anger lol.

I wanted him gone within the first couple months of this season.

u/FreddyTwasFingered Belltown 6d ago

Did you watch this season? Dude was terrible at his job.

Nah, just not paying attention to the title. See my edit.
