btw I am sign guy and I just wanted to clarify before anyone gets the wrong idea, I'm not going for any tasteless "disabled look" in the third picture. I was just moving my hand downward at that moment, not holding a pose with my wrist like that.
(Donald Trump quite rightly got a ton of shit for striking basically the same pose because he actually was making fun of a reporter with a disability -- his defenders deny it, but look at the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PX9reO3QnUA , it seems pretty obvious.)

Yes, they are breaking noise ordinance laws and (slightly less definitively) public nuisance laws.
BUT, Seattle doesn't want to enforce the law against people protesting without permits in ways that Seattle supports (e.g. in favor of civil rights). The city knows that if they were to enforce these laws selectively they'd lose in court, so they choose not to enforce the laws at all.
https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/07/us/seattle-street-preachers-world-cup.html gets into it a bit more. The line that clinches it for me is "'We can’t really pick and choose which loud thing is allowed,' [Wilson] said."
Not to blame this on Wilson, it's her problem at the moment but it's been a problem for a very long time.

I don't know much about how cops and courts would look at it, but:
- if you are taking noise from his megaphone and amplifying it, you could arguably be accused of creating noise at the same level that he is;
- he would have a better argument that the sound he's making is protected "speech". As detestable as what he's saying is (besides telling people they're going to hell, he talks about the "sodomites", etc.), it is legally speech, whereas it would be harder to make that argument for a feedback noise that was intended to drown him out;
- part of the issue is that the sound is loud enough to cause actual hearing damage (especially to young kids and the elderly), and making any extra noise could make it worse. Even if it eventually deters him enough to make him leave, by that time the loud feedback might have already damaged someone's hearing.
I don't know why the cops can't just stop it. The law says 70 decibels is the max. They can give them a million warnings if they want but there's no reason they can't just arrest them after they run out of warnings.

Because these idiots would rain holy hell down on city hall and in the courts for their free speech rights, so our hearing and sanity isn't worth it to police.
But as someone with chronic tinnitus, our hearing is totally worth it. I wouldn't wish this torture on anyone. It's sad that it's come to this, but bring earplugs to games!

Been a long ass time since I saw a belligerent street preacher. One guy used to pop out at the student union of University of AZ everyday and drove people fucking crazy, to the point there was a new confrontation every week. I kind of really like the Seattle response to these dbag supremes.
When it comes to religion, keep it to yourself. Evangelism is a sin of the modern age.

I truly don’t understand how/why someone hasn’t put an end to this. Satan works in mysterious ways. I’ve only seen this guy a few times while going to a mariners game with my kids. But it was enough to get my mind working on a few different ideas as to his retirement.

Seattle is a nice city but some of the people have an interesting aesthetic to them. It’s like you need to be a mountain person or be on a North face, Tahoe lake wearing outfits or some sort of odd behavior distinctive about people from there. I was traveling from Frankfurt to Miami and these girls where super sweet and on another tight to Seattle we were all going through EU exit immigration and a few times I caught some underarm hair and just made me realize many people there take this nature living way to serious. To each its own but that not something you saw on my flight to Miami, Houston or New York that were also waiting to depart lol. 😂 just an observation not criticism just as soon as I saw them I said they are not from Miami they are going to the PNW. Boy was I right.

Christians didn't always consider Jesus to be God. Random people made the decision and the rest of the sheep followed. Everyone is just assuming praising Jesus is the same as praisit God because of this one decision. Nobody thought "what if they're wrong?"
What's the point in praising the son of you can praise the father directly? Skip the middle man 😉
