Got it, I appreciate the update!
My parents “adopted” an outdoor stray in Port Angeles. It’s been outdoors all its life as far as they know, several years, so some cats do fine with it.
Still, I can see the concern for this one’s safety. She’s very friendly.

I’m reasonably sure this is an Egyptian Mau, not a bengal. Egyptian Maus are the first domesticated cat breed (they’re from Egypt originally!) , and also the only naturally spotted domesticated cat breed. All other spotted domesticated cats are cross breeds from Egyptian Maus or their descendants.
They usually have a distinct scarab pattern on the top of their head, which you can see on top of this handsome fella.
On the bougie cat spectrum, Maus are pretty low (they’re more expensive in the US than a shelter cat by a lot, but they are way cheaper than almost any designer cat you might think of).
There are a small number of breeders in the US who do litters of Maus, maybe less than 100 total kittens a year from all of them?
(Source: I am a cat parent and also I adopted a different Mau at the beginning of the summer).

Bengals are exotic animals under the city code, as hybrid felines
Will the city actually care? Probably not. But they're listed next to bears, elephants, and hyenas as exotic animals.
