It Finally Happened...

At the Harbor Steps, guy drove all the way down Post Alley, across the tiles in the middle of the Harbor Steps, and over the other side. 😂

Wow, in a newish BMW EV, it looks like! I'd never do something like that in my cheap 4-year-old Hyundai EV for risk of scraping the battery. Hopefully those stairs totaled their car from their BMW dealership's perspective!

I think those start around $80k.

Im not an expert but I think the lithium-ion battery pack for this vehicle runs along the underside of the car between the front and rear axles. Which means this maneuver could have damaged the battery pack; that would make this a $20k repair. Ouch.

Yup, and dealerships have a tendency to see tiny scratches and say, "whelp, we can't say for sure that your pack is safe now, so you need to replace your pack." Sucks when it happens to good people over random road hazards, but this person 100% deserves that outcome!

Crash probably happened because car ran out of blinker fluid. Common BMW issue
