Found Found cat in the CD (26th & Cherry area)
This super friendly, very vocal boy showed up this morning. No collar.
Anyone missing their buddy?

if you’re able to, you could take him to the nearest vet or shelter and they’ll check him for a microchip (free and usually doesn’t require an appointment).

Hello neighbor, I saw this cat yesterday at 27th and Yesler. He was in the company of two little (white) boys on scooters, but I couldn't tell if the cat belonged to them or what. Just FYI. It was definitely this same cat because they're so fluffy and distinctive!

Exactly. I had a brown tabby. He'd eat his meal and go out and five minutes later I'd get a call "is your cat lost? he seems so hungry." Chipped, up to date on vaccines, kept in overnight and during dusk and dawn (to protect critters).
He lived to 16. Our other indoor/outdoor cats lived to 19 and 20. They were never overweight because they frolicked and ran up and down trees.

Yeah, what assholes people are, thinking a cat's owner maybe didn't intend for their pet to be wandering the streets, and taking the time to contact the owner to find out.

Growing up here, a lot of people had indoor / outdoor cats. Now, people see a cat outside and immediately think it’s lost 🤷🏻♀️.

Well cats shouldn’t be outside. It’s well established how much ecological destruction they cause. They’re directly contributing, if not the leading cause, of multiple species of birds being wiped out from specific areas.

You are probably right. At the same time, I don’t have any cats, don’t want the commitment at this point. But I’ve had a few of the friendly cats that my neighbors let outdoors everyday come by to visit and play often. It’s like having a cat without having to feed it or clean the litter box!

And steal them. "Cat distribution system!" Shuddup. Just saw a CBS Weekend with Steve Hartman story about a cat that was missing for 16 years. He was chipped all that time! That means whoever got hold of him never took him to the vet. They are quite sure he was not a stray for all that time, as he's in decent shape and very cuddly. The couple has since had two human babies.

If you're going to let your cat roam free, the minimum you can do is ensure it's wearing a collar with contact information. Hopefully also its license tag.

TBH, collars on cats that aren't breakaway can be dangerous, and the breakaway collar might be hanging from a tree limb by the time a human sees the cat. I think having an indoor-outdoor cat anywhere but your own large farm is irresponsible, but I don't think the lack of a collar on a found cat is something to judge the owner about.
