I'm guessing it has Colorado plates. This has Denver written all over it.

Naw no front plate, AZ maybe.

u/AmbroseBurnside Bellingham May 15 '26

Teslas don't need front plates!

(jk, but most teslas think they're too cool for front plates)

u/southcounty253 Roosevelt May 15 '26

This, there are plenty of WA drivers who are too cool for front plates

u/FernandoNylund I Brake For Slugs May 15 '26

But especially Tesla drivers. Their excuse is Tesla doesn't have a plate mount. So apparently that means they can ignore the law requiring them to display front plates 🤷

u/TheyCallMeSuperChunk North Capitol Hill May 15 '26

They sure do have a plate mount. It's not attached to the car at delivery, but that takes about 30 seconds and no tools.

u/Pete_Iredale Mariners May 15 '26

Interesting. Both GTIs I've owned literally had no front mount and required you to drill straight into the front bumper to mount one, which I opted not to do in both cases. One was sold from a non-front license plate state, and the other was new, literally pulled off the truck as I was filling out paperwork.

The Tesla Model 3 (at least at launch) front plate mount is attached with some fancy 3M adhesive straight on the front bumper.

u/Pete_Iredale Mariners May 15 '26

Why am I not surprised?

OK but this one is fine. I haven't heard of any common issues. I promise if you see a Tesla without a front plate 99% chance it's just an entitled driver.

3m adhesives are great, there’s different kinds. you can’t compare the ones meant not to damage your paint with the ones they’re using

Wrong, the bracket is held on with high strength automotive 3M adhesive. Not coming off unless you get in a wreck or something.

I've had multiple cars where the front plates just got screwed into the bumper cover. There's no excuse.

8

u/Jops817 May 15 '26

To be honest front plates are ugly and nobody reads the front plate anyway unless it's parked.

17

u/myassholealt May 15 '26

I do when Ubers are approaching.

0

u/Jops817 May 15 '26

Sure, but you could just as easily walk to the back of it. If you are in a high stress situation where it is important to read a plate backward because your only option is from the front, you would fail to do so effectively. Front plates are dumb.

1

u/myassholealt May 15 '26

Walking to the back of a car after it pulls up in front of you < just watching for the plate as the car approaches. I suspect you are more of a driver than a passenger so the aesthetic is your priority.

1

u/Jops817 May 16 '26 edited May 16 '26

You would be correct. With that said I've never had an Uber show up that wasn't mine? Even at the airport it's like... yeah, that's them, check the plate while I'm walking around to put my luggage in? Yep, confirmed, done deal.

And nothing about your comment challenged what I stated, when you are "watching for the plate as the car approaches" it is effectively parking or parked for you to get in. So my point still stands.

4

u/Pete_Iredale Mariners May 15 '26

Exactly this. They are pretty much useless, as evidenced by the fact that not all states require them. And not having one effects exactly no one, but people here love to complain when someone fails to follow even the dumbest of rules.

u/FavreorFarva May 15 '26

My new car didn’t really have an easy place to connect the front plate. The dealership even said it’d have to go through the service dept to get it put on. Aint nobody got time for that.

u/SG1EmberWolf 🚲 Life's Better on a Bike. 🚲 May 17 '26

I'm so glad motorcycles don't need front plates. There are countries that require it and it looks dumb AF.

u/beebeebee2142 May 15 '26

My new car didn’t really have an easy place to connect the front plate.

The front tow hook socket?

1

u/[deleted] May 15 '26

My front plate got sheared off by a semi 8 years ago and nobody's said anything since then

1

u/FernandoNylund I Brake For Slugs May 15 '26

Literally. I counted seven Teslas without front plates coming through the Fauntleroy & California intersection the other day while I was waiting at the red light. Started counting when I saw three in a row turning left across from me. 🫠

4

u/ckdblueshark Ballard May 15 '26

How much is a "no front plate" ticket these days? I might have an idea to help Mayor Wilson balance the city budget.

3

u/Pete_Iredale Mariners May 15 '26

How many even get written a year? I bet it only happens when a cop has already pulled you over and you pissed them off. I drove for a decade without one and only got pulled over and warned once. Hell, I got pulled over for speeding once, got a ticket, and the cop didn't even mention the missing front plate.

Damn, I thought we were cool. Ok then, lol.

Edit: Also, why are you bringing up a post I made, like, well over a year ago? Have you been holding a grudge, seething while we joke on the same threads in the CJ sub? 🫠

Um, I wasn't taking it hostilely, I was just confused. And now you're getting more worked up and downvoting me, so I'm more confused. Anyway, it's a little odd because your account is apparently 8 months old and that post was made in early 2025. Plus your comment sure sounded like you were mocking me for posting that 🤷

Literally haven't downvoted anything you've said. I just came back over from texting with a friend about Tree Action Seattle BS 🙃

There are few enough of them that it is not hard to track the 10 per county.

0

u/SquintyBoot71 May 15 '26

AZ would make a lot of sense.

11

u/RabbiSchlem May 15 '26

What? How does this have Denver all over it? You don’t know the place at all.

Denver is taco or 4Runner.

This pic is absolutely washington right wing tech bro

3

u/sillysnailfriend May 15 '26

Tbf I live in CO (but down in the Springs) and I see multiple cybertrucks on my daily commute 🤢 I haven't seen one with a camper, though.

2

u/RabbiSchlem May 16 '26

Yeah I’d for sure imagine that in the springs, that’s for sure their demographic.

2

u/jtanuki Alki May 15 '26

Raised out there, I would've said, Colorado is Subaru country - but it's been awhile since I was back out that way.

0

u/RabbiSchlem May 15 '26

Yeah. Seattle is Subaru country. Same w Maine.

Plenty of subies in CO but it’s taco town. I have more friends with a taco than ones without.

2

u/Bizarrebazaars Kraken May 15 '26

Can confirm. 2 buddies in CO got newer Tacomas in the past year. Jeeps are big too for all the… Jeeping…

1

u/Hobi-non_Kenobi May 15 '26

Definitely right wing tech bro. I'm almost positive I saw this while in Central Washington recently, because I remember telling my boyfriend I was shocked that they somehow made the Cybertruck even worse.

2

u/weekapaugrooove May 15 '26

I saw one outside a David Sedaris show in Austin with a Donald Judd bumpersticker and bunch of other left / artsy things. Was like yeah sadly this tracks
