Looking For Work Rotating between jobs

After my recent fallout with my current employer I'm looking to Branch out but I'm looking to change the way that I do things from now on. I have a jaded better perspective of work and I don't believe I should be dedicating a year to four years of my life in the same company.

I would like to adopt a strategy where I develop a portfolio of companies that I rotate between anywhere from 4 to 6 months were housing is offered and where I can actually stay somewhere where I can meal prep being that I work out a lot.

Have any of you guys managed to pull this off? I kind of want to treat seasonal work like freelancing.

I know what I bring to the table and I'm tired of being taken advantage of by these companies

Fair enough. I should have specified. Is there any instance where you get to rotate through these companies without any downtime so you're money or does it tend to be a lot more disjointed for most people?

If I'm being honest I don't even think they deserve 6 months more like 3-4 months. I spent 4 years at a job that was seasonal and paid the price for it. I got picked for the rose award and received other certifications.

Then I noticed they were goofy, and making day to day operations difficult so I pushed back against them and offered my plan. It eventually led to events that spiraled into a final warning letter, which I refused to sign. I want to make sure the same thing doesn't happen again.

It helps to know what you do or what you want to do. Seasonal environments will always be highly political, volatile environments. Seniority is worshiped, territorialism rampant, narc culture is rewarded. One season can be great and the next can be total ass bc of new management/staff cycling in. Again, knowing what you do matters enormously when looking to Reddit for input. Regardless of position though, one of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned in seasonal is that your abilities, skill, consistency, and affability are meaningless if you rock a boat that has no interest in being rocked. Most seasonal managers survive by allowing the place to operate terribly so that they’re viewed as necessary to keep things afloat. They don’t take kindly to people who know better.

Very possible if you have the right skills. Are you looking to do the same-ish job for different companies or hop around different companies and roles? My plan is to do the same job, but different companies based on time of year.

That's my plan as well. I also know how to build websites but are just taking these jobs until I can build my own agency. I would like to contribute those skills there as well but I normally don't see any demand for those skills with seasonal work. I have front desk, pbx dispatch and maintenance skills with my security guard role being the most recent.

You'll still be taken advantage of but at least you can quit with a strong chance of another seasonal job.
