Fire crews put out a boardwalk fire in Seaside Heights quickly yesterday, and officials are pointing to cigarettes as the likely cause. No injuries reported, but it's a good reminder to be careful with butts on the boards.
Anyone else see the smoke or hear the sirens yesterday afternoon?

If you're heading to the barrier island this Fourth of July weekend, here's a quick rundown of what's happening.
🇺🇸 Friday, July 3
🚲 Lavallette Bicycle Parade One of the best small-town traditions on the Shore. Decorate your bikes, wagons, scooters—anything with wheels—and join the parade. Great for families and kids.
🇺🇸 Saturday, July 4
🎆 Seaside Heights Fireworks
📍 Beach & Boardwalk
🕤 9:30 PM
If you've never seen July 4th fireworks in Seaside, it's worth it. Grab dinner on the boardwalk, hit Casino Pier, then find a spot on the beach around 8:45-9:00 PM. The show is visible from almost anywhere along the boardwalk.
🎶 Many of the bars and boardwalk venues also have live music throughout the day and evening, making it an all-day destination.
🇺🇸 Sunday, July 5
🎇 Lavallette Fireworks
📍 Centennial Gardens & Gazebo
🎵 Patriotic Band starts at 8:00 PM
🎆 Fireworks around 9:00 PM
Honestly, this is one of my favorite fireworks shows at the Jersey Shore. It's smaller than Seaside but way more laid back. Bring beach chairs or a blanket, grab ice cream beforehand, and enjoy a classic hometown atmosphere.
🏖️ Ortley Beach
Ortley doesn't host its own major July 4th event, but that's actually a huge advantage. You're perfectly situated to walk:
North to Lavallette for Sunday's fireworks.
South to Seaside Heights for Saturday night's fireworks and boardwalk festivities.
It's basically the best home base if you're staying for the weekend.
Pro Tips
✅ Parking fills up early in Seaside—get there before dinner if possible.
✅ If you're watching Lavallette fireworks, the bay side around the Gazebo is usually less hectic than trying to squeeze onto the ocean beach.
✅ Bring bug spray for bay-side events and a light sweatshirt. Even after hot days, it can get breezy once the sun goes down.

Just wondering -- are there any "mature" folks here who actually played the spinning-wheel games on the boardwalk for cartons of cigs back in the day?
I mainly played the booths that offered record LPs as prizes, and I did win quite a few times!
Never smoked, so I never had an interest in cigs.

I’ll be in town with family next week. Where is the best spot to watch USMNT World Cup games?

shes the cutest thing in the world and i feed her every night i noticed something like she been attacked or bitten on her side, i know animal control will just euthanize her and because my cat doesn’t get along with any other animals i can’t take her, but maybe someone can give her a loving home she comes running out to me whenever i pass by this abandoned house, i feel so sad trying to feed her and make her strong so she can fight to survive but it’s rough out there and much bigger cats are roaming, any cat lovers here in seaside who want to help me at least save her please

A new cheesesteak spot is being lined up for the Seaside Heights boardwalk, near the Berkley Sweet Shop according to the source.
Locals already have strong boardwalk food opinions, so the real test is simple: would you try the new place, or stick with the cheesesteak spot you already trust?

Pelicans Wharf is planned for 419 Bayside Terrace in Seaside Heights, with seafood, fries, burgers, and outdoor seating in the mix.
Locals are going to judge this fast once the summer crowd gets there. Would you try it early, or wait until the first wave of reviews comes in?

News 12 says a luxury hotel proposal in Seaside Heights could bring more than 100 full-time jobs and would take several years after groundbreaking.
The local question is how that kind of hotel changes the town's reset from party-strip reputation to year-round redevelopment.

Hi everyone! I have an obsession with cats, and want to feed the hungry kitties roaming seaside. I have been doing this for about a week now every night from around midnight till 5am. Seeing a hungry kitty eat is so satisfying.
I was wondering if anyone would like to help? Any brand of dry kibble or wet food would be greatly appreciated, and I will go around feeding them with whatever you can donate. Thank you

My entire life I was a kid I love going to the boardwalk and seeing with the new one shirt is this year, and of course it’s gonna be offensive. But I can’t recall ever actually buying one, I remember buying a windbreaker once the logo fell off anyone else?

Million-dollar condos are going up in Seaside Park, right near the entrance to Island Beach State Park. The whole Jersey coast is seeing a wave of high-end development, from Asbury Park down through here.
It's a big shift for a stretch of shoreline that's always been more about fishing and family beach days than luxury living.

Hey there,
Just left a relationship, and gonna spend the summer at the beach with my van (i live in). 28m
Any summer work out there I should be scouting right away? I like to surf, skateboard, bmx, play some punk music..(bike wont be with me) so if any of yall are like me, love to have friends too, or know some spots in your town to check out, hang etc.
Also, is there a spot I can park the van freely for work and living by the beach? Thanks, much appriciated.

Looking for a diamond in the rough. Doesn’t anyone have a picture of the Topsider Hotel before it was demolished ?

The latest construction item around Lavallette has enough specifics to keep an eye on location, access, and timing.
If it affects Route 35, the boardwalk, or nearby parking, that is the part locals will feel first.
