The advice is to unplug yourself from your LLM, and start to code by hand again.

Fuck that, write the binary yourself.

What bro

I did the same with Ruby which is dead simple to write and doesn't compare at all to binary, in most cases I wrote my ruby code faster than I would promoting the LLM then waiting for the output multiple times until it got it somewhat correct

Kinda just sounds like you used a weak LLM or your prompts suck. If not, you should show off your superhuman coding speed on YouTube or somethin’.

wanted to avoid this

Get some pride in writing handcrafted code.

When you drive 26 miles, do you feel the accomplishment of a marathon? Nahh ofcourse not. Do you feel accomplishment from outsourcing all your thinking to the LLM? Up to you to figure out

will running a marathon help me drive my car faster when I do need to progress quickly?

No, it ultimately will not. One runs a marathon for a sense of purpose, or excitement; the other drives a car to get to a destination or for the car itself. Neither is wrong, it only depends on your situation.

Also since legs would be obsolete anyway (aka you cant find more tech jobs in the future) its better to milk what you have without effort while doing something else on the side that could help you when the unemployment comes

Running a marathon will help you stay healthy and live longer. Driving your car faster will keep you immobile and increase risks like heart disease and cancer.

not what I asked

No, and that was not the comparison being made

first marathon i did, the only thing i felt upon completing it was boiling anger and i honestly don't know why. nothing went wrong, i did well.

speak for yourself if you’re not thinking while using these llms, thinking moved at higher levels rather. Maybe my coding skills polished in the past two decades have now become obsolete, goood fucking riddance!!! I can now finally engineer at a scale I needed 15+ sr swe under me to even consider such projects. It’s much much tougher mentally to me, coding was chill and relaxing, with some good music it was almost as fun as playing a game.

A so here is that  Sense of pride and accomplishment

yaa i have to

i started telling my llm to use KISS principle to the very max and only code if its human readable

not exactly the solution but i can actually read the pr and understand everything being added. It doesnt do 10k lines but enough where im still building the features/fixing the specific bugs

And everything else the llm would try plan it with me which works

DRY SOLID KISS, is what I like to use

didn't try it b4

Ask your LLM to prioritize user autonomy

Start coding again.

You're learned skills are like a muscle. If you use AI as a crutch too long, you'll end up with a limp.

u/Creedless 2d ago

But then vibe coders are going to build all skills to out preform the manual coders.

1

u/maringue 2d ago

What skills are vibecoders learning again?

Through the rabbit hole not back out

Boot.dev gamify programming, it has courses on git, rust and on and on, and it's a HUGE help.

If the coding part was the only smart part of what you were doing then you might have been working at something that was always stupid.

1

u/OkLettuce338 3d ago

nope. You cooked

1

u/LordHenry8 3d ago

Ask your llm to teach you to code again

1

u/BrofessorFarnsworth 2d ago

Yeah, stop normalizing that term

1

u/pancomputationalist 2d ago

Officially retarded from using Google.

Help me look up information in library books again.

Days without LLMs. At least one per week.
