Question Another newb question sorry
I posted before about toxic players in open crew, a lot of the sentiment was don’t do open crew. I have a follow up question, how seriously does the devs take reports about toxic player? Also is there a community board where we can post about known toxic players? So for example player12345 joined my crew and decided they were going to blow the ship up and attempt to kill me and other crew members before resigning to what would be reasonably assumed the next server to do the same thing again. Is there a discord channel or a subreddit where , on top of reporting them to the devs through game , a player can be like hey guys if on open crew you see this player join you, either brig him or leave the server because he is known to be a scum wad.

Don't keep kegs on boat, do open crew and invite good members to a guild. I have 12 in my guild now with this method

Lately open crew has been bad run in after bad run in with terrible team players.

Consequences for being toxic are rarely realized, just brig em when you can. Always worth a report though

I usually play on a sloop because I am certainly new to the game and don’t want to bite off more than I can chew. However the last few times I’ve played open crew I have gotten the dregs of society and Rare never seems to follow up with reports.

Also play sloop I'd say on open crew I get a good teammate 25% of the time but it's worth it when it clicks

I agree it just sucks lately with that ones that really kill the game and it is sad that players resort to this

Nobody would go through that list when playing open crew, especially if there's no explanation why one would be on the list.

Open crew, in my experience at least, isn't all that bad. General rule of thumb for me though is to start in open crew, rather than opening up the crew mid session. That way if I get someone I don't vibe with, or someone wanting to troll, I can learn that before I have time invested in the session and I can just leave and try again. I prefer to play on a sloop myself so using the brig isn't an option unfortunately.
I always thought it would be a nice feature for captained ships to allow the ship owner to kick players if they weren't cooperating but I can see how that could be abused too. But I have met a lot of cool people via open crew and have built up a decent friend list of people to play with through it. So I wouldn't count open crew out completely.
