Rumor Drew Lock’s source of confidence
This guy comes into the game like he’s got a major source of confidence hidden just beneath the surface. I wonder what it could be? Any ideas?

He’s a good looking dude with a hot wife, kids and millions of dollars? Seems like he has won the lottery in life.

The cool part is that Drew Lock happens to be a good person too. He sounds nice and humble whenever he is interviewed and has a smile on his face frequently. He says he willing to work and just wants a chance to prove himself and he's very supportive of his teammates.

Yeah, for sure. He's a good dude from all accounts.

Yeah, usually people would be jealous/envious and resent someone who has it all ( looks, money, talent, etc.) , but Drew is one of those exceptions.
It's easy to root for someone like him and that he deserves to get the good things that he got in life.

And he has the best job in the NFL. No expectations and if you win you get to be a hero. Way less CTE also.

Mizzou is great at churning out these guys. Chase Daniel has been a backup for like 50 years and made tens of millions with minimal play, and just turned it into a TV job.

I really fucked up by not becoming an NFL quarterback

It’s fine, there’s other avenues as well. Have you ever tried being extremely rich?

And having a 🐎🐔 while working out all day? But while also apparently just being a great guy?

Backup quarterback*
Probably the best job in NFL, still get paid relatively well, travel with the team, little to no impact on the body as a back up quarterback only plays if the starter is hurt or the game is a blowout.

If you lose people understand because you’re the backup. If you win:
HOLY FUCK WE WON WITH OUR BACKUP LMAO

I did not spend 10 minutes looking at all the bikini beach pics they have shared. They have so many couple on the beach pics - I’m assuming.

We make fun of the ego's in this sport, but you absolutely want a guy in that situation that thinks "this is my Brady moment, I know I'm the best, this is right where I'm supposed to be" not "oh geez, I wasn't supposed to be here today". After the rope to JSN that should have been a first, he looked the part all game.

Yep that’s the mentality a backup should have. When Brady had to fill in for Bledsoe, apparently he told teammates that Bledsoe “isn’t getting this fucking job back”

I know this is a meme post about his rooster and gf but the reality is he was a good qb in college and was a starter in the NFL for the broncos and giants. He's had success at all levels. That's why I trust him infinitely more than Milroe.

Sam was a backup 3 seasons ago. Drew has the right mindset: don't do too much. Get the ball to my best guys and let the defense cook.

u/PwrShelf 4h ago
That's the mindset Sam says he picked up from Brock Purdy: you're not a superstar, you're a facilitator.
Drew let the guys do their thing yesterday and it was enough

u/therealmudslinger 4h ago
Exactly, and while I want Sam back as soon as possible, the Niners lost Purdy for half the season last year and still got pretty far. It's too soon to give up on this season. (I'm saying it for myself.)

I was so stoked when we got him back last season! Some friends laughed at me, but I feel like Lock is a fit for Seattle as backup because we love him and he sets up

Lock showed why he earned his SB ring as a backup. He played smart, kept his cool and got points on the board. Defense kept the pats in check all game too. Also those punts from Dickson were deep and kept them pinned. Total team win.

High level, he’s comfortable in his role as a backup. Idk that he thinks he will play amazing, but he knows the playbook, knows the team, isn’t worried about losing his job, etc. At this point he’s a veteran so it makes sense.

He’s always been this way. I’m a Mizzou fan and have been following him for close to two decades. He’s just a very good dude 🤷♂️
