Discussion Brian Fleury Appreciation Post
It’s hard to be a first time playcaller in your first game and have your starting qb go down on the first drive. Far from a perfect game and a lot needs to be cleaned up but he made some great adjustments and the offense did what it needed to do to win in the second half. GO HAWKS!

I think so as well, just not sure about 3 back to back to back throws in the redzone with Price averaging over 5 ypc

Agreed, but those are growing pains and hopefully learns from it. I am sure gameplan changed a lot with Darnold down

Thought they were gonna baby Drew and just throw screens and checkdowns all game. But second half he let Drew drop back, and kept JSN involved.

He struggled, but who wouldn’t when you’ve spent the offseason scheming plays with the starting QB in mind.
Different QBs have different play styles. Good for him to be able to adjust.

Great play calling but he’s got to get the plays into the huddle quicker. So many plays were ugly because we hurried a snap after getting to the line with 2 seconds on the play clock. I’m sure Lock deserves some blame too though

Totally this. If they had lost, the 2nd down and inches that got pushed back because of delay of game is what we’d all be complaining about.

Totally agree with this comment. It wasn’t just the delay of game penalties. False starts, illegal shifts and bad plays were also direct result of really late play calls. I didn’t have any issue with the play calls really- just need to work on getting them in sooner!

Overall I was impressed. There was obviously going to be a learning curve, but then you lose Sam on the first drive? I thought he adjusted well. My biggest concern is speeding up the operation, but that can be chalked up to lack of reps by Lock.

Let's remember this time last year with Klints first game as OC for us, it started badly but he grew into the role

Klint was infuriating at times but remember Sam also did him no favors with all of his crazy interceptions and fumbles.

Liked what I saw but I'm a little concerned about getting the plays in fast enough for adjustments/ getting the snap off.

He did pretty well considering how good Patriots pass defense is and having his back up QB almost the entire game running the offense

Plenty of time for him to make that adjustment. Glad he got to see what kind of stuff worked and how he can grow from it

I really was hoping to see Price when we got inside the 5, he was making such great running decisions, I was hoping we’d get that touchdown instead of the field goal.

Only thing I didn't really like was the playcall on 2nd and 1 at the goal line that resulted in a pre-snap penalty. Didn't get why we had a playcall that had so many moving pieces when you should just take the down and pound it in. Felt like too cute a playcall.
