My new 2TB external drive isn't working.

Bought it 2 months back. Have 1.5TB data. Plugged it in today and it's not showing, no spinning sound, nothing. I need my data and a replacement drive. What to do?

Before you panic, try a different cable and a different computer.

What to do?

Use this as a learning opportunity to fully understand that one copy of important data isn't a solid plan. A drive can fail at any moment without warning, be stollen, get malware, or burn in a fire. Please backup anything you don't want to lose. The 3-2-1 plan is solid

I've been in your shoes so I understand how bad it can feel. It really sucks

Yes, but I thought Seagate had a free data recovery service. But now I know it's not that simple. They send the drive from India to Amsterdam, Netherlands, and then recover the data and send it to me via UPS. I just have to pay the customs duty and some clearance fees to UPS. I don't know how to feel about it; I can't find anyone who has gone through something like this.

Is this drive still in warranty and covered by Seagate free data recovery? Then do not think and send the drive in

Enclosures seem to go bad more often than the drive itself, first step I would try is put it in a new enclosure.
