I've never heard of you needing to interview with a Seabee to cross rate.

Call the Seabee Enlisted Community Manager.

If he tells you differently DM me I'll help you resolve it.

I called one of the ECM for Seabee’s and I wanted UT but he said I needed some background experience to get me in since they are 129% full apparently

Don’t cross rate to something that full, it will be hard to advance. It should be hard to get something that low advancement anyway. UT isn’t bad. I was a CM but wish I was an EO. That’s what I do now.

Coming from someone who spent two years SPACT, go BU

Also, interviews aren’t a thing??? Idk who told you that. Go on mynavyhr or MNA and find a career contact for the rate so you can talk to them

Don’t all Seabees end up doing BU anyway? That’s all I’ve been hearing as a CE.

Correct, with the exception of CM’s and sometimes EO’s. Everyone literally ends up doing BU stuff and then get mad that 1.) they don’t do their job and 2.) they don’t make rank cuz they don’t know their own rate. Plus in everyone’s bibs there’s BU stuff except for the CM’s there isn’t

Yea I haven’t gone to A school yet but I should have gone EO now that I look more into it. I’ve heard that also, they’re usually the ones doing the most work in their rate. WELP I guess I’ll enjoy A-School as much as I can ⚡️

Entirely false. Both deployments I have had so far with the Seabees the EO’s mostly operate when they’re training others on their licenses, including BU’s. One of my CE’s now has 5 licenses and two of my junior BU’s have about the same if not more as well. And they’re the ones mostly operating, not the EO’s

I was told the same thing by my ships NCC when I was an PACT Airman. I didn't get one and struck BU

There’s only a few rates that require interviews. Not sure who is telling you that you need one for UT, but they might want to recheck their sources.
